While Dave's mom, Virginia, brought some embarrassing things from Dave's childhood. First, Colbert showed an adorable photo of Dave when he was a child, and then he brought Dave's report card from 6th grade. As Colbert brought it out, Dave's mom simply said, "That was a tough one. That's was a tough year." Colbert then started to read the notes on the report card, "Respects authority: Needs improvement. Is courteous: Needs improvement. Accepts responsibility: Unsatisfactory." The list continued on with everything being followed by "Needs improvement" or "Unsatisfactory." Dave explained that he wasn't always a bad student, saying, "I have to be honest. I was kicking ass up to 1st grade and it was all downhill from there."
