Dave Coulier reveals his Full House reunion series idea honoring Bob Saget's Danny Tanner

Dave Coulier has revealed his idea for a Full House cast reunion series that would honor the legacy of late star Bob Saget's Danny Tanner following the comedian's death in January.

"We talk all the time how much we would love to do a show again, we just love working and we love our fans so much and we love the whole process. We just love what the show is and what it means to people. We're always raring to go. Hey, ABC, come on, let's do another one," Coulier said Monday on Tamron Hall. "What I would love to do is bring in all the original cast back, where we are older now and we talk about our lives, and we can reflect and tell stories about Danny Tanner and keep his character alive, because he's very much alive in spirit with all of us. We miss him dearly."

He added that he feels the cast would "all do it in a heartbeat," but that there are "approvals of legalities" involved that are getting in the way. "But," he ended on a hopeful note, "I think we'd all be up to working together again, for sure."

The actor additionally discussed his recovery from alcohol addiction, noting that the deaths of his brother, father, and Saget put into perspective the hold that substance abuse previously had on his life. He also revealed the final exchange he had with Saget on the night that he died.

"I spoke with Bob Saget the morning that he passed, and he was texting me and making me laugh and we were texting back and forth and making each other laugh very hard. The last thing I said was 'have a great show tonight,' and that was my last real connection with Bob," he said. "I thought to myself after those three lives were gone, I would've never been able to feel all of that if I was drinking, and it was really important to me to just feel that sorrow. There was nothing masking that or layers covering that up. I thought to myself, this is what I should be doing. I should be feeling this pain, feeling this incredible love for these people. And with alcohol, I was covering all of that up."

Coulier and fellow Full House cast members Coulier, John Stamos, Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin, Mary-Kate Olsen, Ashley Olsen, Lori Loughlin, Andrea Barber, Scott Weinger, and series creator Jeff Franklin released a joint statement remembering Saget shortly after the 65-year-old was found unresponsive in his Orlando, Fla., hotel room on Jan. 9. His death was later determined to be the result of head trauma from a fall he sustained in the room.

"Thirty-five years ago, we came together as a TV family, but we became a real family," the statement read. "And now we grieve as a family. Bob made us laugh until we cried. Now our tears flow in sadness, but also with gratitude for all the beautiful memories of our sweet, kind, hilarious, cherished Bob. He was a brother to us guys, a father to us girls and a friend to all of us. Bob, we love you dearly. We ask in Bob's honor, hug the people you love. No one gave better hugs than Bob."

The sitcom's stars also paid individual tribute to Saget earlier this year: "My childhood is wrapped up in you, my formative teenaged years and the rest of adulthood. You taught me to feel deeply at such a young age," Bure wrote of her TV dad on Instagram. "You were never afraid or ashamed to share your emotions, to cry, to love, to laugh and say it out loud."
