A new Dave Chappelle special has appeared on Netflix’s YouTube channel. The title of 8:46 refers to both the time of Chappelle’s birth and the amount of time the Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin knelt on George Floyd’s neck. The killing, and footage of the killing, are the subject of the set, along with the protests that sprung up in its wake. He also addresses responses in the media, criticising Fox News pundit Laura Ingham and the conservative commentator Candace Owens.
Elsewhere, he pays tribute to the late Kobe Bryant and touches on the Grammys ceremony the day of his death. Watch the 27-minute film below.
