Daryl J. Johnson joins Kyle Meredith to talk about his role in the new film Self Reliance, the Hulu movie that’s written, directed by, and starring Jake Johnson. Listen to the new episode above, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Johnson the actor chats about how he landed the role after Johnson the director saw him in an episode of Drunk History, and how being part of the series continues to get him recognized, especially by other celebrities. He also touches on if he would trust Andy Samberg if he pulled up in a limo with a crazy offer (as happens in the Self Reliance).
He also discusses how being part of Ashton Kutcher’s Punk’d helped prepare him for some of the more outrageous moments in Self Reliance. “One of the good things about being on Punk’d in your career is you’ve already gone through all the possible embarrassing hazing things you can do on camera,” he explains. “So I was like, ‘Oh, a toilet scene? I did that. I ran down the street naked chasing Miley Cyrus!'”
