‘Daryl Dixon’: Manish Dayal Joins Season 2 Cast Of Norman Reedus’ ‘Walking Dead’ Spinoff

EXCLUSIVE: The Resident alum Manish Dayal has been tapped for a major recurring role in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon — The Book of Carol, the second season of the Norman Reedus TWD spinoff.

Season 2 will revolve around Melissa McBride’s character Carol Peletier (hence The Book of Carol title), reuniting her with Reedus’ Daryl Dixon. It’s slated to premiere in 2024.

Dayal will play Ash, an engineer from Boston who moved to the family weekend house in Maine after the onset of the apocalypse. Ash lives by a strict schedule based mostly around his daily flights in a retrofitted single engine plane and mysterious visitations to his backyard greenhouse.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol was able to resume production overseas during the strike after receiving an interim agreement from SAG-AFTRA.

Along with Reedus and McBride, Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol also stars Clémence Poésy, Louis Puech Scigliuzzi, Laika Blanc Francard, Anne Charrier, Romain Levi and Eriq Ebouaney. The series is EP’d by McBride, Reedus, Angela Kang, showrunner David Zabel, TWDverse overlord Scott M. Gimple, Greg Nicotero, Brian Bockrath, Daniel Percival, Jason Richman and Steve Squillante.

Dayal is coming off a six-season run starring as Dr. Devon Pravesh on Fox’s medical drama The Resident, and also served as a director. He is perhaps best known in film for his lead role of Hassan in The Hundred-Foot Journey opposite Helen Mirren. He also appeared opposite Emma Roberts and Kristin Chenoweth in Netflix’s romantic comedy Holidate, and previously starred in Gurinder Chadha’s Viceroy House for Pathe & BBC Films opposite Gillian Anderson, Hugh Bonneville and Michael Gambon. He is currently developing Stringer, based on Anjan Sundaram’s memoir, Stringer: A Reporter’s Journey Into the Congo. The short film Fifteen Years Later marked his directorial debut, which starred Matt McGorry and Rachel Brosnahan. His other notable television credits include Halt and Catch Fire on AMC and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. at ABC. Dayal is repped by UTA, Industry Entertainment and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman.
