Darius Rucker was reportedly arrested on a minor drug offense in Williamson County, Tennessee on Thursday.

The Hootie & the Blowfish frontman was arrested on two counts of simple possession/casual exchange of a controlled substance and one count of a violation of Tennessee’s vehicle registration law, according to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office. All three charges are misdemeanors. He was released on $10,500 bond. The controlled substance has not yet been identified, and details of what led to Rucker’s arrest have not been shared, but, TMZ reported, he allegedly had expired tags on his car.

Rucker “is fully cooperating with authorities related to misdemeanor charges,” according to his attorney, Mark Puryear.

Last October, Rucker released his first solo album in six years, Carolyn’s Boy. Two months later, he was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Dec. 4. The country star was accompanied by his three children: Carolyn, Daniella and Jack.

Rucker is a three-time Grammy winner who was set to embark on a North American tour with Hootie & the Blowfish, accompanied by Collective Soul and Edwin McCain, this summer. The jaunt is the first for the band since 2019.

In 2013, he talked to the Los Angeles Times about his past substance use, saying in part, “Doing drugs and drinking every night—I’ve done that. Trust me, I’ve done enough for everybody. And it’s just not how I want to live anymore.”
