‘Daredevil’ First Look Trailer: Iconic Supervillain Bullseye Arrives On Netflix Series – New York Comic Con

UPDATE with additional panel coverage, photos Who is Agent Dex, and why is he going all Daredevil on Daredevil? At New York Comic Con today, the Netflix series revealed that new FBI agent Benjamin Poindexter (Wilson Bethel, joining the cast) will become the iconic Marvel character Bullseye.

“One of the greatest villains in comic books,” is how showrunner Erik Oleson described Bullseye. Season 3 will chronicle how Bethel’s agent Ben Poindexter, under the psychological manipulation of returning Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk, becomes supervillain Bullseye.

“It gets very, very weird,” said Bethel today (that’s him in the photo above) about the twisted relationship between Fisk and Dex.

The character reveal trailer was screened at Comic Con today along with some other (non-published) Season 3 sneak peek clips:

  • Charlie Cox’s broken down Matthew Murdock, aka Daredevil, who is not dead following that building collapse that cliff-hanged The Defenders, but rather convalescing in what looks to be a convent school where he meets (or more accurately, re-meets) a certain Sister Maggie, played by Joanne Whalley;

  • Fisk in prison and looking to make a deal with the FBI;

  • Fisk out of prison and under seige, and about to be rescued by what may or may not be the FBI;

  • Daredevil sleuthing and threatening to get the details on Fisk’s prison release;

  • Karen (Deborah Ann Woll) and Foggy (Elden Henson) arguing over whether Karen actually saw the presumed-dead Matt alive and not-so-well;

  • The arrival – details won’t be spoiled here – of sharpshooting and knife-throwing FBI agent Poindexter.

The official Season 3 synopsis has Murdock reemerging after being missing for months and questioning his future as both a lawyer and the vigilante Daredevil. When Fisk is released from prison Matt has to decide whether he’ll embrace his destiny as a hero.

Matt, said Cox today, is at an all-time low, and the clip of the character recuperating in that makeshift sick ward makes the point: The blind superhero is now “deaf in one ear, and can’t even walk to the bathroom.” When Sister Maggie sternly tells him he’ll have to leave soon – “this isn’t a convalescent home” – she at least offers to call someone for him.

“No,” he replies. “There’s no one.”

As for action this season, Oleson pointed to an elaborate fight sequence in a parking garage in which Daredevil takes on a squad of security types. Oleson compared the scene – favorably – to a memorable first-season “hallway fight,” with fans in the audience hooting their approval. The showrunner thanked Jeph Loeb, Executive Producer and Marvel’s Head of Television who was moderating the panel, for ok’ing a day-long halt in filming so the parking garage scene could be rehearsed.

“That was a brave choice,” Oleson said today.

But the best-received clip came at the end of the panel, with Daredevil and Bullseye going mano-a-mano in a thrilling fight. Loeb called the arrival of Bullseye TV’s “worst kept secret” among Daredevil fans, but the actual footage of the villain taking on the vigilante was greeted with whoops and shouts whether the bad guy’s arrival was a surprise or not.

On today’s panel were Charlie Cox, Elden Henson, Deborah Ann Woll, Vincent D’Onofrio, Joanne Whalley, Wilson Bethel, Jay Ali, Erik Oleson and moderator Jeph Loeb.

Marvel’s Daredevil Season 3 debuts October 19 on Netflix.
