Danny Zoolander: Patriots' Amendola signs modeling contract

Among modeling agencies, Ford Models has long been one of the industry leaders; among the faces it has made famous are Christie Brinkley, Naomi Campbell, Cheryl Tiegs and even newsman Anderson Cooper, who was a model as a child.

And one of their newest budding models is Danny Amendola.

The New England Patriots receiver signed with Ford this week, and is the first NFL player the company has signed to its roster.

Stylist David Thomas, who dressed the 31-year old for the ESPY Awards on Wednesday night, thought that as a football player, Amendola wouldn’t be the right size for fashion’s runways. But at 5-foot-11, 180 pounds, he’s a perfect fit.

Ford will help Amendola get modeling gigs and endorsement deals, and help make him a bigger name outside of football.

“I’m a football player first and foremost, but fashion is something that I’m also interested in exploring right now,” Amendola told GQ magazine. “I’m really grateful to Ford for giving me that opportunity.”

Amendola admitted that when it comes to New England’s best dressed, everyone is fighting for second place behind Tom Brady. The hookups Brady gets thanks to his wife give him an unfair advantage, but Amendola’s own new status will likely lead to a fairer fight.

While we wish Amendola the best in his new endeavor, we really want to see how his Patriots teammates react to the news that they’re sharing a locker room with their own Derek Zoolander, Male Model.
