An anti-Scientology protest erupted Saturday night outside a Franklin Village restaurant where convicted rapist Danny Masterson allegedly took one of his victims before assaulting her.

The Daily Mail reported demonstrators gathered outside La Poubelle Bistro and Bar on Franklin Avenue and urged patrons to steer clear of the eatery. The restaurant’s owner, Francoise Koster, wrote a letter defending Masterson’s character amid his rape trial. The restaurant is directly across the street from Scientology’s massive Celebrity Centre.

Masterson was handed a sentence of 30 years after he was convicted of raping two women, one of whom he allegedly drugged at the restaurant before taking her to his Hollywood Hills home.

Police have been stationed near the restaurant in the aftermath of the trial.

The Saturday confrontation began when one protestor allegedly asked a smoker standing outside the venue, “You’re gonna support a place where Danny Masterson raped women?”

“Who’s that?” the man reportedly responded.

Reports indicate protestors had cameras raised to film the confrontation.

After more words, the smoker reportedly knocked the phone from one person’s hand, and a scuffle ensued. Los Angeles police arrived to break up the brawl and arrest one of the protestors.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed they arrested one person for battery but declined to identify the individual.
