Danny Elfman has once again been sued for sexual harassment, per The Hollywood Reporter.

The accuser is a 47-year-old Maryland woman going by Jane Doe XX, who filed the lawsuit on Thursday, October 19 in Los Angeles Superior Court. In the court documents, she alleges that the famed composer sexually abused her from 1997 to 2002.

Elfman and his Musica de la Muerta company are being sued for sexual assault, gender violence, intentional infliction of emotional distress, sexual harassment, and negligence. The plaintiff is seeking damages, “including but not limited to medical and incidental expenses and loss of earnings.”

A spokesperson for Elfman vigorously pushed back against the accusations in a statement issued to The Hollywood Reporter: “The allegations of misconduct made against Mr. Elfman are baseless and absurd. His legal team is assessing all options and he will vigorously defend these claims in court.”

In the complaint, Jane Doe XX recalled meeting Elfman at a party in 1997, while she was a 21-year-old student at the New York Film Academy and Elfman was 47. He began treating her as “a consultant and protégé,” and invited her to industry events.

According to the plaintiff, Elfman would remove “all of his clothing until he was completely nude, and walked around nude in front of Plaintiff, exposing his genitals” whenever they were alone together over the next five years. The musician claimed “this was the only way he could work, be creative, and successful,” and the woman felt like “she had no choice but to always comply with his requests” due to the power imbalance in their relationship from Elfman’s stature in Hollywood and the music industry.

In 1998, Elfman invited Jane Doe XX to stay at his California home for several weeks while she looked for an apartment in Los Angeles. During that time, according to the plaintiff, she would sometimes share a bed with Elfman while “never removing her clothing, often sleeping on top of the bedding” and he slept naked next to her.

Sometime in 2002, Elfman allegedly told the plaintiff: “Every time you have ever slept next to me, I would masturbate next to you.” This led to her ending their relationship.

This past July, musician and composer Nomi Abadi sued Elfman for breach of contract after he allegedly failed to make payments from a $830,000 sexual harassment lawsuit settlement reached in 2018. According to a Rolling Stone report, the original lawsuit accused Elfman of indecent exposure and masturbating in front of Abadi without her consent. Elfman denied the allegations in a statement to the magazine, claiming that Abadi retaliated after he rejected her romantic advances and settled to avoid harming his career.

When Jane Doe XX read about Abadi’s case, she reached out to Abadi’s attorney, Jeff Anderson, due to the similarities in their experiences with Elfman.
