From 'Danny Boy' to bar crawls, get your Irish on at these OKC St. Patrick's Day events
For Julie Yu, there's not much more all-American than celebrating St. Patrick's Day with a Korean-American conductor leading a nationally recognized symphony chorus in performing Irish music.
Yu is wrapping her debut season as artistic director of Oklahoma City's Canterbury Voices with a spring concert titled "For All the Saints (especially Patrick)" at 7:30 p.m. March 14 at Civic Center Music Hall.
"It's very authentic, and I did take Irish dance lessons. ... So, I feel like I have a little bit of background, and it's going to be fun. Hopefully, it will be like stepping into a pub," Yu told The Oklahoman.
Canterbury's adult chorus will be joined in concert by guest performers from the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, along with baritone Nick Stoppel and the OKC band The Irish Breakfast Club.
