Former actor and current radio host Danny Bonaduce‘s brain surgery has gone well, according to a recent report from TMZ.

Following an announcement that he would need to undergo brain surgery, Bonaduce’s friend and agent Paul Anderson told TMZ that his surgery on Monday went well and is “super optimistic” about the radio host’s recovery.

What type of surgery did Danny Bonaduce have?

In a post to Instagram this week, Bonaduce said that he would take a “temporary medical leave” from his radio show. Bonaduce said that he will share more as he can, but in an interview with TMZ, revealed the surgery is an effort to recover from a mystery illness.

Bonaduce has recently had trouble walking, and has spent months speaking to “hundreds” of doctors trying to figure out what the issue was.

“My life was talking to doctors. I had meetings with five doctors on one single day, and nobody could figure out what it was,” Bonaduce said. “And I thought, ‘Well, this is a big deal. I’m falling down now. That can’t be good.’”

Eventually, Bonaduce said, a doctor deduced that it could be hydrocephalus. This is a neurological disorder caused by a buildup of liquid in the brain. Former tabloid mainstay Bonaduce joked he had no idea how he got it as he recounted some of his past antics. These include stints on Celebrity Boxing, where Bonaduce was struck in the head repeatedly by baseball star Jose Canseco.
