Danielle Brooks is officially an EGOT nominee!

The Color Purple star, 34, is up for a Best Supporting Actress statuette at the Oscars 2024 ceremony this March, for her role as Sofia in the musical period drama.

She previously nabbed nominations for the other three letters in "EGOT" — Emmy Awards in 2021 and 2023, a Grammy Award in 2017 (which she won!) and a Tony Award in 2016.

And on Friday, she noted that "somebody has caught on" to the distinction, adding a winking-face emoji as she retweeted a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) that proclaimed, "Danielle Brooks is now an EGOT nominee!"

Earlier this month, Brooks reflected in a post on Instagram about playing Sofia both in The Color Purple musical film and the Broadway show it is based on, which is adapted from the 1982 novel of the same name by Alice Walker.

"Playing Sofia has been the highlight of my career," she wrote. "Getting to live in the complexities of who she is - the quiet moments, the strong ones, the joy and sorrow - have all shaped me for this moment in time."

"Toni Morrison says 'The Function of freedom is freeing someone else,' " Brooks continued. "Since first witnessing this story on Broadway at 15 which inspired me to go to chase my dreams at Juilliard, watching Ms. Oprah breathe life into Sofia on film, to being Tony nominated playing Sofia on stage at 25, to then opening myself up so fully in this film, she has led me to my freedom."

"If you haven’t already I encourage you to see the film and go get yours [freedom]," she concluded.

Brooks' new portrayal of Sofia made her a best supporting actress nominee at the 2024 Critics Choice Awards. It also earned her a nod for best performance by a female actor in a supporting role in any motion picture at the Golden Globes. Additionally, Brooks is up for outstanding performance by a female actor in a supporting role at the Screen Actors Guild Awards next month.

"I am still processing the fact that I became an Academy Award Nominee yesterday for a role that means everything to me," Brooks wrote on Instagram Wednesday. "The Color Purple has changed my life in ways I don’t think I’ll ever be able to express but MY GOD!! Look What God Has Done!"

"Thank you @theacademy members for seeing me and acknowledging my dedication, work, and love for the craft. Forever grateful. More to share later. 💜🥹 @theacademy," she concluded.

The 96th Academy Awards, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, will air live on Sunday, March 10, from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California, beginning at 7 p.m. ET.
