Daniel Radcliffe’s ‘Horns’ Finds a U.S. Home
Daniel Radcliffe’s “Horns” has found a home with Dimension and Radius-TWC, which has acquired U.S. rights to the supernatural thriller a month after its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival.
A 2014 release is planned with no date set yet.
Juno Temple, Max Minghella, Joe Anderson, Kelli Garner, Heather Graham, David Morse, Kathleen Quinlan and James Remar also star in the film, based on the novel by Joe Hill.
Keith Bunin wrote the screenplay, in which Radcliffe’s character is blamed for the death of his girlfriend, played by Temple. He then finds a pair of horns growing from his head.
Red Granite Pictures toppers Riza Aziz and Joey McFarland produced along with Mandalay’s Cathy Shulman and director Alexandre Aja.
WME Global handled the domestic rights.
Radcliffe’s romantic comedy “The F Word” sold during Toronto to CBS Films for $2.5 million. That title is also expected to be released next year but no date has been set.
Variety’s Peter Debruge gave “Horns” a mixed review at Toronto: “While tame compared with ‘High Tension’ director Alexandre Aja’s hard-R-rated gore-fests, this overly devout adaptation of Joe Hill’s sacrilegious text benefits from the helmer’s twisted sensibility, but suffers from a case of overall silliness.”
