Forget Lord Voldemort; Daniel Radcliffe’s real nemesis is tap water. Last night on Conan, Radcliffe revealed how he accidentally poisoned himself on the set of his new movie Horns (in select theaters now). Horns, based on the bestselling dark fantasy novel, was filmedin Canada during the winter, and the water on set was laced with antifreeze to prevent the pipes from freezing. Unfortunately, nobody bothered to inform the English actor about this particular Canadian trick.

“I drank a full cup of nonpotable water – so I guess like, half anti-freeze,” Radcliffe told host Conan O’Brien. The former Harry Potter star recalls being “horrendously ill” for three days, though he didn’t realize why until it almost happened again a few weeks later. “I went to drink another glass of water in hair and makeup,” Radcliffe recalls, “and they went, ‘What are you doing? Don’t do that! That’s crazy, you can’t drink that water!”

In Horns, Radcliffe plays a DJ who sprouts goat-like horns and develops strange powers after his girlfriend (played by Juno Temple) is mysteriously murdered. His character’s motives are questionable, but in reality, Radcliffe just wants to give fans some helpful guidance. “Don’t drink antifreeze,” he advises.
