Daniel Levy Joins Legendary’s ‘Animal Friends’

EXCLUSIVE: Daniel Levy is set to join the ensemble cast of Legendary’s live-action hybrid, Animal Friendswhich already stars Ryan Reynolds, Addison Rae, Jason Momoa and Aubrey Plaza. Emmy-winning director Peter Atencio is set to direct the R-rated road trip adventure from writing duo Kevin Burrows and Matt Mider. The logline is currently being kept under wraps.

Producing alongside Legendary are Reynolds’ Maximum Effort and producer Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios. Visual effects and animation will be provided by leading visual entertainment services company, DNEG. The idea for the film came from a general meeting between Burrows and Mider and Maximum Effort executive, Patrick Gooing.

Best known for his Emmy-winning TV series, Schitt’s Creek, Levy recently made his directorial debut with Netflix’s Good Grief, which he wrote, produced and starred in alongside Ruth Negga and Himesh Patel. His recent credits include The Big Brunch, on which he not only created but also hosted and served as a judge alongside Chef Sohla El-Waylly and restaurateur Will Guidara; Season 4 of Netflix’s acclaimed dramedy Sex Education; Disney’s Haunted Mansion remake; Hulu’s holiday rom-com Happiest Season and HBO’s Coastal Elites.

Levy’s upcoming acting credits include Netflix’s Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story, alongside Jerry Seinfeld, who also directed and wrote the film, as well as a guest role on the final season of HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm.
