Is Daniel Jones ready to be a regular fantasy option?

SCOTT PIANOWSKI: New York Giants burning fantasy question, is Daniel Jones ready for the circle of trust? Jones showed plenty of boom in his first season in the NFL. If you look at his four best starts, quarterback one, quarterback one, quarterback two, quarterback three. But unfortunately he was also outside the top 20 in quarterback scoring in five of his games. So we need more consistency in Jones' second season.

We need some ball security too. 12 interceptions last year, 18 fumbles. That led the NFL. So we need him to improve in that department.

But there are some fun things to work with. Look at the toys in the passing game, Golden Tate, Sterling Shepard, we like Darius Slayton, Evan Engram can make plays downfield. Saquon Barkley can certainly catch the ball, and Jones himself can run. So there's a lot of paths to potential fantasy points.

The Giants are right now on paper underdogs in 14 of their 16 games. This could turn into a Tampa Bay 2019 situation. Chasing the game, volume, high tempo in the second half. We like all those things.

Now the thing to be mindful of with Jones is the schedule is really difficult up front. They play the Steelers, they play the Bears, they play the 49ers the first three weeks. They all look like plus defenses. So maybe Jones isn't in your circle of trust for September, but I still think he's an excellent super flex pick. I think he's gonna be a DFS option several times, and I think he'll probably be close to that quarterback one cut line around mid-season.

And this is a really good buying opportunity on Jones. He's right now quarterback 13 in NFFC formats. He's quarterback 26 on Yahoo boards. I think it's gonna correct itself. But right now good value, ascending player, fun passing game. I'm approving Daniel Jones for 2020.
