‘Dancing with the Stars’ week 8 slugfest: How close will Harry Jowsey get to the Mirror Ball Trophy? [WATCH]
“It’s at this point of the race that it’s like, okay, he seems like a really nice guy, but there are some really good dancers on the show who he has outlasted. And I kind of want his run to end before it gets sour,” argues Gold Derby editor Daniel Montgomery about Harry Jowsey, who has made it to the top six on “Dancing with the Stars” over celebs who consistently outscored him like Mira Sorvino, Lele Pons and Barry Williams. “He continues to endure in the competition based entirely on viewer votes.” Watch Montgomery’s latest video slugfest about “Whitney Houston Night” with Gold Derby contributors Jeffrey Kare and Cordell Martin above.

“He’s just that contestant, season after season, where it’s like, okay, it’s just time to close this chapter,” adds Martin. “We’re proud that you put yourself out there, did something new … But now it’s getting to the point where we will see, unfortunately, some talented celebrities go home. I’m just preparing myself for him to make the finals.” Martin can even imagine one of the highest-scoring stars like Charity Lawson or Jason Mraz going home before him.

“I was at least glad that he did not win the dance-off with Alyson Hannigan — thank goodness for that — but, yeah, it looks like it’s possible Harry might just make it to the finals,” admits Kare. “I hope he doesn’t. Again, Harry, we mean no disrespect to you at all. You seem like a nice guy, but it is mainly because the other five left in the competition are doing better work.” In a clip package earlier this season, Jowsey talked about how hurtful it was to read negative comments about his dancing online. But Montgomery thinks the solution to that is just not to read the comments: “He should not be on the internet. He should not be on Beyonce‘s internet anymore. Stay off.”
