‘Dancing With the Stars’ Week 4: Charli D’Amelio and Mark Ballas’ Hair-Raising ‘Simpsons’ Routine Wows as [Spoiler] Goes Home

(SPOILER ALERT: This reveals the team that was sent home on Monday, Oct. 10)

On Week 4 of “Dancing With the Stars,” Charli D’Amelio and Mark Ballas were tied at the top of the leaderboard again as they channeled Marge and Homer Simpson for Disney+ night. They shared the top spot with Wayne Brady and Witney Carson, who danced a jazz number to “Wait For It,” from “Hamilton.”

The night also saw homages to “Luca,” “The Muppet Show,” “Mary Poppins,” “Hocus Pocus 2,” and other offerings on Disney+.

Weatherman Sam Champion and partner Cheryl Burke ended up in the bottom again, with judges having to choose between them and Trevor Donovan and Emma Slater. So who went home? Sadly, it was Sam, who did a “The Greatest Showmen”-themed paso doble.

Donovan’s “Cars” samba set to “Life is a Highway” failed to impress the judges. Len Goodman took issue with all the “messing around” stage-setting in their routine, as he did with Daniel Durant and Britt Stewart’s “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” quickstep.

Several guests made the Disney-centric night even more memorable as Brady thanked his godfather, Tony-winning dance legend Ben Vereen, who was in the audience; Jordin Sparks hugged her son D.J. after dancing to “Remember Me,” from “Coco,” the song she said she sings to him every night; and Jennifer Lewis handed out dance tips to former assistant Shangela before she sang “Dig a Little Deeper” to accompany her “The Princess and the Frog” Charleston with partner Gleb Savchenko.

Joseph Baena was reunited with Daniella Karagach after her COVID-related absence: He was well cast as Hercules to her Meg, but they received the second-lowest scores of the night. Vinny Guadagnino and Koko Iwasaki’s spirited samba to “Luca,” earned the “Jersey Shore” star his first 8, but he tied with Trevor with a score of 28 out of 40.

The judges loved Jessie James Decker and Alan Bersten’s “Hocus Pocus 2,” jive, with Bruno Tonioli proclaiming, “That was wicked, honey, in the best possible way, you danced like a demon!”

Selma Blair, who danced to the theme from “The Muppets Show” with partner Sasha Farber, was happy to get an 8 from all four judges.

Meanwhile, a magic-wand-wielding Carrie Ann Inaba dubbed Heidi D’Amelio’s “Mary Poppins” Viennese Waltz “magical,” while Len raved that it was “clean” and “precise,” and that she had the best dancer’s frame of the evening.
