Dancing With the Stars Recap: Who Won the Halloween Dance Marathon? And Which Couple Got ‘Boo’-ted?

Want to know something truly hair-raising? The number of contestants left on Dancing With the Stars‘ current season is already in the single digits… and it continued to dwindle with Tuesday’s Halloween episode. (The judges’ table got an addition, though: guest judge Niecy Nash-Betts! A surprisingly tough scorer! Are guest judges allowed to do that?)

In addition to the regularly scheduled duets, Tuesday’s fright-filled outing also featured the return of the dance marathon, first revived last season after collecting dust since 2012. During the marathon, all nine couples appeared on the ballroom floor simultaneously — first dancing a Hustle, then a Charleston — and they were tapped out by the judges until only one pair was left dancing. This year, the dance marathon champs (who also earned the titles of Hallow-King and Hallow-Queen) were… Xochitl and Val!

Couples earned additional bonus points based on how long they lasted in the dance marathon, ultimately putting Xochitl and Val atop the leaderboard at the end of the night and Harry and Rylee at the bottom. But how did those altered scores affect this week’s elimination? Read on for Tuesday’s full results, then hit the comments with your thoughts!

Aw, I had really come to enjoy Mauricio’s performances. After a couple of wobbly opening weeks, it felt like he was picking up some true dark horse potential; this elimination won’t necessarily go in the “shocker” column, but it does feel unfortunately premature.

What do you think of Mauricio getting the boot? And whose Monster Night performance did you enjoy the most? Tell us below!
