It’s been tough keeping Covid out of the ballroom. Cases were announced in 2021 and 2022. In season 30, Cheryl Burke and her partner Cody Rigsby both tested positive for Covid and had to perform one of their numbers via Zoom — and from separate locales.
On premiere night, Lawson and Chigvintsev earned the highest score of the night (22 out of 30) with their tango. Lawson was a former cheerleader, so it was clear to the judges that she knew how to move.
“Sweet Charity. That was a tango stunner,” said judge Bruno Tonioli. “The execution for week one was superb. A stellar performance.”
Tonight is Latin night in the ballroom.
