‘Dancing with the Stars’ outrage: 94% of fans protest Mira Sorvino’s elimination – 70% would have axed this celeb instead [Poll Results]

“Dancing with the Stars” fans were surprised by Mira Sorvino‘s elimination on “Most Memorable Year Night.” In fact, no one who made their predictions last week here in our predictions center anticipated that result. Hardly anyone agreed with it either. When we polled our readers at the end of the night, only 5.88% said Sorvino was the celebrity who should have been eliminated. Sorvino and her pro partner Gleb Savchenko performed a contemporary routine to “Time After Time” by Cyndi Lauper. It was all the more special because the dance featured Sorvino’s own daughter, whose birth marked Sorvino’s most memorable year. She received her best scores yet for the routine, including her first eight from Derek Hough, but at the end of the night she was third from the bottom of the leaderboard, meaning she still needed lots of viewer votes to ensure her safety. Sadly, she didn’t get them.

She was probably disadvantaged somewhat by the night’s schedule. She was the first dancer of the night, giving the viewing audience time to forget her routine. She also performed one of five contemporary routines that night, making it even harder for her to stand out from the pack. And the fact that it was her highest-scoring dance probably made some of her fans complacent.

The overwhelming consensus of our respondents is that “Too Hot to Handle” star Harry Jowsey should have been eliminated instead: a whopping 70.16% voted that he should have left the competition. Like Sorvino, he performed a contemporary routine for “Most Memorable Year,” but Jowsey’s landed him at the bottom of the leaderboard. However, Jowsey has benefitted from strong support from viewers at home, who have saved him from low judges’ scores on multiple occasions this season. How long will he last on the strength of his fan base?
