We made it through “Most Memorable Year,” the most emotional theme night on “Dancing with the Stars,” which this year included a deeply moving tribute to the late Len Goodman. Now it’s time for something completely different. “DWTS” always makes a meal of Halloween with over-the top hair, makeup and costumes, and creative choreography that ranges from spooky to goofy. So what does “Monster Night” have in store for us? Scroll down for our live blog with all the minute-by-minute developments and commentary throughout the evening.

Last week Oscar-winning actress Mira Sorvino was the fifth celebrity eliminated from the competition, leaving nine to compete for the Len Goodman Mirror Ball Trophy: actress Xochitl Gomez, actress Alyson Hannigan, “Too Hot to Handle” star Harry Jowsey, “The Bachelorette” alum Charity Lawson, “Vanderpump Rules” star Ariana Madix, singer-songwriter Jason Mraz, social media personality Lele Pons, “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Mauricio Umansky and “Brady Bunch” actor Barry Williams.

More from GoldDerby

The “Monster Night” dances will include a few Argentine tangos and a couple more contemporary routines, and they will be themed after different supernatural creatures including zombies, aliens and werewolves. After the individual routines the celebrities will try to earn bonus points in the dance marathon — er, dance “monster-thon” — where they will do the hustle to “Stayin’ Alive” by Bee Gees and the Charleston to “Grim Grinning Ghosts (Dance Party)” by Kris Bowers. So which were the best performances, who wore the best costumes, and who was eliminated at the end of the night? Follow along below starting at 8:00pm (times listed are Eastern).

SEE‘Dancing with the Stars’ scares up a Dance Monster-thon for Monster Night

Jason Mraz and Daniella Karagach (Contemporary)

Daniel Montgomery, 8:04pm — I’m a little nervous that Jason is going first.

Cordell Martin, 8:05pm — Oh wow Jason is starting the night off. There goes my theory of him getting a perfect score.

Jeffrey Kare, 8:05pm — Hopefully, he at least fares better than Mira Sorvino last week.

DM, 8:07pm — Daniella choreographed the hell out of that routine. But Jason did look a little unsteady. Wish they didn’t have to go first.

CM, 8:08pm — I agree Daniel.

JK, 8:08pm — Very creative costumes, makeup, and choreography.

CM, 8:08pm — Great way to kick off the show

JUDGESDerek Hough thought the side-by-side dropped the energy a bit. Guest judge Niecy Nash-Betts was connected to it the whole time, and he did a beautiful job doing lifts for the first time. Bruno Tonioli could feel the struggle and torment of the creatures, it was like a mini gothic drama, but something went wrong with the lift. Carrie Ann Inaba calls it amazing, he expresses every beat of the choreography, but he wassn’t as grounded as he usually is.

SCORES — Carrie Ann (9), Derek (9), Niecy (9), Bruno (9) = 36 out of 40

CM, 8:11pm — Well deserved.

JK, 8:11pm — Absolutely!

DM, 8:12pm — I have a feeling they’re gonna call Jason in jeopardy tonight just for the drama.

Alyson Hannigan and Sasha Farber (Paso Doble)

DM, 8:14pm — Now they’ve got Alyson going early too. Producers are trying me tonight LOL. Though maybe this gives Jason and Alyson a chance to rest so they can win the dance marathon.

JK, 8:16pm — Very possible.

CM, 8:16pm — I can see Alyson or Mauricio going home tonight.

JK, 8:18pm — For Daniel’s sake, please don’t speak the former into existence.

DM, 8:!8pm — That was much better than I was expecting. She did the thing.

JK, 8:19pm — Killer lighting, killer moves, killer performance.

CM, 8:19pm — Alright Alyson. I think Sasha may have brought her another week. 7’s and 8’s.

JUDGES — Niecy thought she could have had a little more grace, but the energy was amazing. Bruno thought it was a paso with a bite, and there was more content than usual. There was a little incident, though. Carrie Ann thought the cape work was perfect, and it was the best she’s danced and performed. Derek got more power and attack like he’s been looking for from her, but there were a few mistakes.

DM, 8:21pm — I agree, probably 7s and 8s.

SCORES — Carrie Ann (7), Derek (7), Niecy (7), Bruno (8) = 29 out of 40

DM, 8:25pm — I was getting worried that she wouldn’t get a single 8 for a second there.

DM, 8:25pm — Great for her.

Xochitl Gomez and Val Chmerkovskiy (Contemporary)

DM, 8:25pm — Okay, prep the 10 paddles for Xochitl’s contemporary.

CM, 8:26pm — Yes! If not then Ariana will get them.

DM, 8:29pm — Her positions during those lifts were gorgeous. That was really strong choreography too.

CM, 8:30pm — Wow!

JK, 8:30pm — Imaginative production values. Mind-blowing performance.

CM, 8:31pm — Uh oh is she okay? This was amazing

JUDGES — Bruno thought it was so good it could be pitched as a movie, he loved the martial arts sequences. Carrie Ann thought the storytelling was powerful, it brought her in, and she was like a brilliant aerialist. Derek says she sent shivers down his spine, though he’s worried about her health after she had to be carried down to the judges’ table by Val. Niecy thinks she did her thing tonight.

SCORES — Carrie Ann (9), Derek (9), Niecy (10), Bruno (9) = 37 out of 40

DM, 8:33pm — I’m super worried about her leg or foot or whatever it was she hurt.

CM, 8:33pm — Me too.

DM, 8:33pm — But I love that creepy stare Jason was doing standing behind them during their interview.

CM, 8:34pm — All eyes are on Charity or Ariana to get the first perfect score.

Harry Jowsey and Rylee Arnold (Argentine Tango)

DM, 8:36pm — With the green making, Harry is giving more lizard than alien LOL.

DM, 8:38pm — Ouch, I hope he hasn’t been reading our critiques. He needs to stay out of the comment sections.

CM, 8:39pm — Uh oh lol. He should be proud with how far he’s come.

DM, 8:40pm — He did a great job on the lifts. Really stiff in hold, though. Don’t read this, Harry.

CM, 8:41pm — This was his most confident dance to date

JK, 8:41pm — It least showed how much he wants to get better.

CM, 8:41pm — It had a few paso movements

JUDGES — Carrie Ann thinks he needs to be more full-bodied, but he’s going in the right direction. Derek tells him to focus on the fans who are supporting him. He also wants Harry to enhance his movements. Niecy says not everyone will like him, but she does. She thought he moved around the floor beautifully. Bruno thought he worked hard and applied himself, his musicality was better and he was on time, and he added content.

CM, 8:44pm — 6’s and 7’s

SCORES — Carrie Ann (7), Derek (7), Niecy (7), Bruno (8) = 28 out of 40

DM, 8:45pm — They felt bad for him. Those were confidence-boosting 7s.

CM, 8:46pm — Jason and this death stare lol

DM, 8:46pm — I LOVE Jason’s death stare. He’s gonna be in character all night, and I’m here for it.

CM, 8:46pm — Yeah Mauricio and Alyson better be nervous.

DM, 8:47pm — I gave Aly as many votes as they’d let me. Fingers crossed.

JK, 8:47pm — Me too.

Barry Williams and Peta Murgatroyd (Viennese Waltz)

DM, 8:48pm — Barry needs to be clean through this waltz. The judges know he’s capable of 8s, so they probably won’t hold back if he’s off.

DM, 8:51pm — Needed a little more grace and glide, but he did a solid job. But if he’s in the middle of the pack he could be in trouble.

CM, 8:52pm — Another solid performance by Barry.

JK, 8:52pm — That one’s especially lush, delicious.

CM, 8:52pm — Barry was better than Harry imo

JK, 8:53pm — Agreed

JUDGES  — Derek thinks the character of the dance took over and the dance suffered. He wants to see more choreographic content. Niecy loved him, the footwork was gorgeous, and the dance was passionate. Bruno has trouble staying on the beat, but he was on it for this routine, but his shoulders were off at times. Carrie Ann thought it was incredible, he connects to the dance, and he uses the whole space of the dance floor.

DM, 8:55pm — Jason still staring!

SCORES — Carrie Ann (8), Derek (7), Niecy (8), Bruno (8) = 31 out of 40

CM, 8:56pm — Well deserved.

DM, 8:56pm — I really thought that would get mostly 7s. I think Aly’s dance was better, and those 8s were kinda generous

CM, 8:56pm — He was entertaining.

Ariana Madix and Pasha Pashkov (Argentine Tango)

DM, 8:58pm — Okay let’s see what the heck a harpy and harpy slayer are supposed to be LOL.

CM, 8:59pm — She’s going to get a perfect score.

DM, 9:01pm — Excellent dance, but I think we’re gonna have to wait for Charity for a potential perfect score. Felt a little subdued, coulda used a bit more oomph.

CM, 9:02pm — Yeah Daniel. It lacked the attack and passion

JK, 9:02pm — That was terrifically wicked!

JUDGES — Niecy thought everything was beautiful, she was obsessed with it. Bruno thanks them for doing an authentic Argentine tango. Carrie Ann thought it was great, she has what it takes to win it. Derek thought it was slinky and seductive, it was authentic with lots of content and great execution.

CM, 9:03pm — She’s getting a perfect score guys.

SCORES — Carrie Ann (9), Derek (9), Niecy (9), Bruno (10) = 37 out of 40

CM, 9:05pm — Nevermind.

DM, 9:05pm — Jason Mraz needs to become a meme.

Lele Pons and Brandon Armstrong (Paso Doble)

DM, 9:10pm — Tonight’s routines and scores have defied my expectations. I have no idea what’s gonna happen with Lele. I really want her to break out with this paso.

DM, 9:13pm — Solid performance, but kinda hectic. The tempo of that song is a little too fast for a paso I think.

JK, 9:14pm — I thought it was really good.

CM, 9:14pm — I loved it. She’s coming into her own.

JK, 9:14pm — She really outdid herself.

JUDGES — Bruno thought it was a lethal paso doble, now she’s in business. She still has all the power, but she has gained control, cleaner and sharper. Carrie Ann thinks her spark is major, but she needs to finish her movements, it was a little sloppy. Derek loves her power and attack, but he agrees with Carrie Ann that it lacked refinement. Niecy thought she needed work in the arms, but the footwork was beautiful, and she stayed with it even with a little mishap.

CM, 9:15pm — Really Carrie Ann? I guess 7’s and 8’s.

SCORES — Carrie Ann (8), Derek (8), Niecy (8), Bruno (9) = 33 out of 40

CM, 9:16pm — Thank you Bruno.

DM, 9:17pm — I’m kinda with Carrie Ann and Derek on that one.

Mauricio Umansky and Emma Slater (Argentine Tango)

DM, 9:20pm — Watch Mauricio get the perfect score tonight LOL

JK, 9:21pm — Please don’t speak that into existence.

DM, 9:24pm — I could sense him thinking his way through that dance, lacked a little attack like Ariana’s, but I think he nailed the steps.

CM, 9:26pm — Exactly Daniel.

JK, 9:26pm — It was decent, I’ll say that.

CM, 9:26pm — I felt he was a little timid in some of his movements.

JUDGES — Carrie Ann wants to see more strength in the core, but he has come a long way since week one. Derek thinks his upper body is strong, but his legs need some work. Niecy thinks Emma looked sexy and Mauricio looked strong. Bruno compliments his power, but thinks the dance was more bull than cat.

DM, 9:27pm — 8s, and maybe a 7?

CM, 9:27pm — Yeah.

SCORES — Carrie Ann (8), Derek (8), Niecy (7), Bruno (9) = 31 out of 40

DM, 9:32pm — Haha, I wasn’t expecting the 7 to come from Niecy.

CM, 9:32pm — Me either lol

Charity Lawson and Artem Chigvintsev (Jive)

CM, 9:33pm — Alright now charity

DM, 9:34pm — Tonight has been a little underwhelming in terms of the dance quality. Not sure what to expect from Charity at this point.

DM, 9:35pm — Okay, maybe some 10s. That was the best of the night.

CM, 9:36pm — That was really good.

JK, 9:36pm — They really saved the best for last.

CM, 9:37pm — I don’t know if it’s 40 worthy, but she deserves 9 across the board

JUDGES — Derek thought there was beautiful jive content, but she needs more attack. Niecy also wanted to see more power in the dance. Bruno thought it was deliciously spooky fun. Carrie Ann thought it was tight and clean, but her legs don’t feel as sharp as they could be.

DM, 9:38pm — Okay, just 9s

SCORES — Carrie Ann (9), Derek (9), Niecy (8), Bruno (9) = 35 out of 40

DM, 9:39pm — Niecy doesn’t play LOL

CM, 9:39pm — I guess so lol

JK, 9:39pm — OK, that was a tad underscored if you ask me.

CM, 9:39pm — I figured she would get dinged by the judges.

CM, 9:41pm — Bottom 2 predictions? I’m going with Mauricio and Harry/Lele.

DM, 9:41pm — Aly and Barry?

CM, 9:41pm — I feel Barry will be safe. Hopefully Harry goes but that’s wishful thinking on my part. Lol

DM, 9:42pm — It depends on how the judges decide to tip the scales with the marathon scores.

Dance Monster-Thon (Hustle/Charleston)

DM, 9:44pm — I have a feeling this is gonna be totally random like last season.

JK, 9:46pm — Maybe.

CM, 9:46pm — We shall see. Harry better be the first one out lol

JK, 9:50pm — This is clearly here just because they had extra time to kill before eliminations.

DM, 9:50pm — Xochitl wins, and that changed nothing about the leaderboard positions really.

JUDGES’ LEADERBOARD

1. Xochitl Gomez — 37 + 5 = 42
2. Ariana Madix — 37 + 4 = 41
3. Jason Mraz — 36 + 3 = 39
4. Charity Lawson — 35 + 3 = 38
5. Lele Pons — 33 + 4 = 37
6. Mauricio Umansky — 31 + 2 = 33
7. Barry Williams — 31 + 1 = 32
8. Alyson Hannigan — 29 + 2 = 31
9. Harry Jowsey — 28 + 1 = 29

CM, 9:53pm — They screwed Barry.

DM, 9:54pm — I think it might be Aly’s night to go.

CM, 9:55pm — I can see Aly or Mauricio. Watch it be Barry

RESULTS

DM, 9:57pm — Safe celebs are … Charity Lawson (no surprise), Xochitl Gomez (duh), Ariana Madix (duh), Jason Mraz (zombie boy lives!), Lele Pons (good for her!) and Barry Williams (close one). The not-necessarily bottom three are Alyson, Harry and Mauricio.

DM, 9:59pm — Eliminated from the competition is Mauricio Umansky.

CM, 10:01pm — Not surprised.

JK, 10:01pm — Neither am I. His days were numbered.

DM, 10:02pm — Poor Alyson has been in the not-bottom-three like three times now.

CM, 10:02pm –Okay Harry needs to go next week lol

DM, 10:03pm — And if Harry is reading our live blog, I hope he knows we think he’s a swell person just not the best dancer LOL.

DM, 10:03pm — But Harry, stop reading blogs and comments. Never read the comments.

CM, 10:04pm — Yes, Harry it’s nothing but love man. Mad props for you stepping outside your comfort zone .

JK, 10:04pm — And we mean no disrespect to you at all.
