“Dancing with the Stars” continued its 32nd season on October 3. So what happened on “Latin Night” when the remaining competitors performed a samba, rumba, cha cha, salsa or tango? Follow along below for our live blog with all the minute-by-minute developments and commentary throughout the night.

SEE‘Dancing with the Stars’ slugfest: Debating Matt Walsh’s elimination, and is Charity Lawson is already a lock for the finals? [WATCH]

Last week comedian and actor Matt Walsh was the first celebrity eliminated from the competition, leaving 13 to compete for the Len Goodman Mirror Ball Trophy: model Tyson Beckford, actress Xochitl Gomez, actress Alyson Hannigan, “Too Hot to Handle” star Harry Jowsey, “The Bachelorette” alum Charity Lawson, “Vanderpump Rules” star Ariana Madix, singer-songwriter Jason Mraz, NFL player Adrian Peterson, social media personality Lele Pons, Oscar winner Mira Sorvino, actress Jamie Lynn Spears, “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Mauricio Umansky and “Brady Bunch” actor Barry Williams.

More from GoldDerby

As mentioned above, Matt Walsh was sent home on “Premiere Night.” He had tied for the lowest score of the night (12 out of 30) with Harry and Tyson, but those other two celebs were safe from elimination after viewer votes were factored in. Instead, Matt was joined in the bottom two by Mauricio, indicating a lack of viewer support for the real estate agent. Was he able to rebound from that?

On the opposite end of the leaderboard was Charity, who proved to be yet another “Bachelorette” star with formidable dance skills. She got last week’s highest score (22 out of 30), which included this season’s first eight (from Bruno). Expectations are now sky-high for her given the victories of previous “Bachelorettes” Hannah Brown (season 28) and Kaitlyn Bristowe (season 29). Was she able to maintain her high standard in week two? Find out below starting at 8:00pm (times listed are Eastern).

SEE‘Dancing with the Stars’ heats up Latin Night with the samba and rumba

Daniel Montgomery, 8:04pm — Lineup change: Artem Chigvintsev got COVID, so Ezra Sosa is dancing with Charity Lawson tonight. Maybe he’ll be a full-time pro himself in upcoming seasons

Lele Pons and Brandon Armstrong (Samba)

DM, 8:05pm — Lele brought Brandon to Miami to party with her family and friends. But Brandon insists that they figure out the technique, especially on a dance style as notoriously difficult as the samba.

DM, 8:08pm — Solid samba to start the night, definitely a step up from her week one performance.

Jeffrey Kare, 8:08pm — The night has begun with a bang, alright.

JUDGES — Derek Hough called it spicy, got a little wild and crazy at times, but it was a great way to start “Latin Night.” Bruno Tonioli appreciated her energy, she’s the life of the party, but she needs to polish and finish the details. Carrie Ann Inaba gives Brandon credit for his choreography. She agrees with her fellow judges that her performance got a little wild.

SCORES — Carrie Ann (7), Derek (7), Bruno (7) = 21 out of 30

DM, 8:11pm — I think the judges got it right with those numbers. Room to grow, though I didn’t think she was quite as out of control as the judges critiqued her for.

Tyson Beckford and Jenna Johnson (Salsa)

DM, 8:15pm — Super stiff in week one, he needs to improve drastically, and salsa needs him to loosen up significantly. But Jenna is going to play to his strengths — literally his strength. Expect lifts.

DM, 8:17pm — He scared me on a couple of those lifts. They were a bit awkward. But overall it was a little better than last week.

JK, 8:18pm — A bit of a step up from last week, but Tyson still needs to learn from Jenna instead of letting her do all the work.

JUDGES — Bruno thought he was on time, did the steps, and projected a performance. Carrie Ann called it a “dance glow-up,” but heavy-footed at times. Derek thought he was a great partner to Jenna, but he needs to loosen up the legs a little.

SCORES — Carrie Ann (6), Derek (6), Bruno (6) = 18 out of 30

DM, 8:20pm — The mark of the beast again, but those were exactly the numbers I was expecting for him. Well deserved.

Barry Williams and Peta Murgatroyd (Cha Cha)

DM, 8:21pm — I’m really worried about Barry on a cha cha. But I hope he has a good birthday dance. He just turned 69 … nice. (Sorry, I couldn’t resist.)

DM, 8:23pm — Wow, I’m really impressed by Barry’s range of motion and timing. He was on the beat, he did the steps. Better than I expected.

JK, 8:25pm — Fierce, slick, and incredible footwork!

JUDGES — Barry thinks he’s comfortable in his body, but the top half and bottom half of his body weren’t quite in sync. (Cue the boos.) Derek loves watching him, but he seemed to be slipping on the floor a little and needs more grip. Bruno loved the confidence, but he needed to connect the leg, body, and arms more. It was too staccato, almost like a paso doble.

SCORES — Carrie Ann (5), Derek (5), Bruno (5) = 15 out of 30

DM, 8:26pm — I thought he was a little better than those scores. I think he deserved at least one six.

JK, 8:27pm — I’m definitely giving him 10 votes tonight.

Adrian Peterson and Britt Stewart (Samba)

DM, 8:29pm — Never sure what to say when he’s on-screen. Especially when they trot out his kids. It feels like they’re trying to launder his image.

DM, 8:32pm — Passable samba. A little wild in the arms, some of the footwork was off.

JK, 8:33pm — Once again, it felt like Britt was upstaging him.

JUDGES — Derek thought there were too many heel leads, it was blocky. But he looked good in the side-by-side segments. Bruno likes that he applies himself, but he could stand to soften it. Carrie Ann thinks he has incredible athletic prowess, but he needs refinement, better partnering. He needs to be centered and use his power more carefully.

SCORES — Carrie Ann (5), Derek (5), Bruno (5) = 15 out of 30

DM, 8:35pm — I generally agree with those scores.

JK, 8:36pm — Unlike Barry, Adrian actually deserved them.

Mira Sorvino and Gleb Savchenko (Salsa)

DM, 8:39pm — I think with her really impressive legs, she can really excel on the salsa. She’s doing it in honor of her salsa teacher, who is no longer with us. So she has some experience in the dance style.

DM, 8:42pm — It looked like Mira got a little tripped up a couple of times, but had some great moments.

JK, 8:43pm — That was really good! Very touching!

JUDGES — Bruno thought it was tastefully presented, a couple of mistakes, and she needs to turn up the spice. Carrie Ann agrees that she needs more confidence, which will help her keep the beat. Derek wants more attack on the steps, but he thinks she will excel at a ballroom dance style.

SCORES — Carrie Ann (6), Derek (6), Bruno (6) = 18 out of 30

DM, 8:44pm — I thought she might end up with a five or two. Glad she’ll be higher on the leaderboard.

Xochitl Gomez and Val Chmerkovskiy (Salsa)

DM, 8:49pm — Val wants to throw in a couple of jumps to stand out from other salsas tonight, but she’s afraid of heights. Yeah, I’d be freaked out too honestly.

DM, 8:51pm — Easily the best performance of the night so far from Xochitl.

Cordell Martin, 8:52pm — That was really good.

JK, 8:52pm — Wow!

CM, 8:52pm — Xochitl is definitely a contender

JUDGES — Carrie Ann thinks salsa is her super power. There was a flash of a young Rita Moreno. She gave style, sophistication, and storytelling. Derek thought she sold it well, she had great focus, had a lot of texture in her movements, and her spins were out of this world. Bruno thought it was so hot he’s melting. It was also an authentic salsa, not just with the hips but the arms.

CM, 8:53pm — Yes she sold the heck out of that dance.

SCORES — Carrie Ann (8), Derek (8), Bruno (8) = 24 out of 30

DM, 8:54pm — Glad she got the first straight eights of the season.

CM, 8:54pm — Well deserved.

JK, 8:55pm — Bravo!

Ariana Madix and Pasha Pashkov (Samba)

DM, 8:58pm — From last week’s tango, I’m expecting her to have tonight’s best samba.

DM, 9:00pm — Solid routine. My expectations were a little higher. I think I actually preferred Lele’s samba.

CM, 9:01pm — That was a fun routine. There were a little shaky moments but definitely a great routine.

JK, 9:01pm — Job well done.

JUDGES — Derek liked the samba rolls, but it needed more control and refinement. Bruno calls it “sexy,” she worked it from every angle, but she missed a pass and lost balance. Carrie Ann’s biggest note is for her to finish her movements, not cut them short.

SCORES — Carrie Ann (6), Derek (7), Bruno (7) = 20 out of 30

JK, 9:02pm — Good enough score there.

Mauricio Umansky and Emma Slater (Salsa)

DM, 9:04pm — Emma is going for more of a traditional, authentic salsa with less of the tricks of other couples. I think he’s got some moves, but he’s gonna need huge scores to stay safe.

DM, 9:06pm — OMG, it looked like Mauricio forgot all of his choreography.

JK, 9:06pm — I don’t know what to make of it.

JUDGES — Bruno says there were so many mistakes, but it happens to everyone. Carrie Ann says it happens to the best of them, and he came back strong from the mistakes. Derek says a setback sets you up for a comeback. And his lifts were good.

SCORES — Carrie Ann (4), Derek (4), Bruno (4) = 12 out of 30

DM, 9:09pm — Stick a fork in him, he’s done.

CM, 9:09pm — Yeah.

DM, 9:09pm — Honestly, those fours even were kinda generous. Best he can hope for is that he did poorly enough to get sympathy votes.

JK, 9:10pm — Unless audiences forget about him throughout the rest of the night.

CM, 9:10pm — He’s definitely in the bottom two. Adrian might join him.

JK, 9:10pm — Very possible.

Alyson Hannigan and Sasha Farber (Tango)

DM, 9:12pm — After Mauricio’s mistakes, I’m praying hard for Alyson not to get psyched out. She also needs to embody the passion of the routine. Bring out Dark Willow!

DM, 9:15pm — Go Alyson! DRASTIC improvement compared to last week.

CM, 9:16pm — Yes a huge improvement from last week.

JK, 9:16pm — Definitely a (pun intended) step up.

JUDGES — Carrie Ann thought it was a woman empowered, a little tense in the shoulders, but she was poised. Derek thought it was night-and-day from last week, the foot placements were right, it was sharp. Bruno thought it was a giant leap from comedy to drama, she was focused and not distracted. But Carrie Ann is right about her tight shoulders.

SCORES — Carrie Ann (7), Derek (6), Bruno (6) = 19 out of 30

DM, 9:17pm — I’m so proud of her. I could cry.

Charity Lawson and Ezra Sosa (Cha Cha)

DM, 9:20pm — Last week answered the question of whether she could dance. This week will determine her consistency. If she can handle a new partner, that will bode well for her going forward.

CM, 9:22pm — Charity better bring it.

DM, 9:23pm — Very good routine. I kinda wanted to see more difficult content, maybe it’s just me.

CM, 9:23pm — Yeah it was really safe. Clearly she mastered that routine within a day or two lol. She looked good though.

JK, 9:24pm — Even with a different partner, Charity still did such amazing work!

JUDGES — Derek thought she did a great job, but he wants to see more connection with the partner that draws the audience into her performance. Bruno thought every picture hit with clinical precision, and she could afford to relax more. Carrie Ann thought it was elegant, clean, and tight. A little too tight, bordering on stiff.

SCORES — Carrie Ann (7), Derek (7), Bruno (7) = 21 out of 30

Harry Jowsey and Rylee Arnold (Salsa)

DM, 9:30pm — He needed a LOT of work last week. But we saw Alyson improve greatly from week to week, so anything is possible.

DM, 9:32pm — He seems like a sweet boy, and it was less awkward than last week, but she definitely carried him through that routine.

CM, 9:33pm — I agree. He’ll get 5’s and 6’s.

JK, 9:33pm — It looks like everyone has been improving from last week, even the weaker ones, but just slightly.

CM, 9:33pm — He’s going to be a fan favorite.

JUDGES — Bruno appreciated that he put in the work, and there was more content, but his hips are still frozen and he wasn’t quite on time. Carrie Ann thought it was good that his eyes were up instead of looking down at the floor. Derek praises the lifts and tricks, but he was a little ahead of the music.

SCORES — Carrie Ann (5), Derek (5), Bruno (5) = 15 out of 30

Jamie Lynn Spears and Alan Bersten (Cha Cha)

DM, 9:38pm — Jamie Lynn has some tough acts to follow. She’ll need to be memorable because I can’t quite remember what she even did last week. And she’s got Jason Mraz coming up next.

DM, 9:40pm — Solid routine, but not the most memorable. Her movements were a little small.

CM, 9:41pm — Ehh she was a little stiff in some places.

JK, 9:41pm — I’d say she’s improved a little bit.

CM, 9:42pm — You could tell she was overthinking the steps.

JUDGES — Carrie Ann noticed she missed a step, and she needs to elongate her torso. Derek thought it was improved in terms of her confidence and presence. Bruno likes that she came out of her shell.

SCORES — Carrie Ann (6), Derek (5), Bruno (5) = 16 out of 30

DM, 9:42pm — Those were reasonable scores.

Jason Mraz and Daniella Karagach (Rumba)

DM, 9:46pm — This is going to be such a different dance style from last week, we’re really going to see the range of his abilities. But he’s the only one doing the rumba, so there’s no one to compare him to. An advantage.

DM, 9:48pm — Really good work from Jason! He even had some good hip action.

JK, 9:49pm — They probably saved the best for last.

JUDGES — Derek thought it was a beautiful rumba, he nailed it. Bruno thought they were like two coral snakes, he had the right motion. Carrie Ann saw a tiny misstep in there, but otherwise it was exceptional, with the connection to the music and interpretation through movement.

SCORES — Carrie Ann (8), Derek (8), Bruno (8) = 24 out of 30

CM, 9:53pm — Well deserved.

JK, 9:53pm — Well deserved high score!

JUDGES’ LEADERBOARD

1. Xochitl Gomez — 24
1. Jason Mraz — 24
3. Charity Lawson — 21
3. Lele Pons — 21
5. Ariana Madix — 20
6. Alyson Hannigan — 19
7. Tyson Beckford — 18
7. Mira Sorvino — 18
9. Jamie Lynn Spears — 16
10. Harry Jowsey — 15
10. Adrian Peterson — 15
10. Barry Williams — 15
13. Mauricio Umansky — 12

RESULTS

DM, 9:56pm — Safe celebs are Alyson Hannigan (hooray!), Lele Pons (no surprise), Tyson Beckford (he’s got a fan base), Charity Lawson (duh), and Harry Jowsey (he’s got some fans too)

DM, 9:57pm — Ariana Madix is safe, as are Mira Sorvino (I thought she might be vulnerable), Xochitl Gomez (duh), Jason Mraz (duh), and Barry Williams (interesting). The last safe celeb is Mauricio Umansky (whoa). So the bottom two are Jamie Lynn Spears and Adrian Peterson.

DM, 9:59pm — Eliminated from the competition is Jamie Lynn Spears. I really thought it was gonna be Adrian when it came down to those two.

CM, 10:00pm — Oh wow.

JK, 10:01pm — Of my casting suggestions that made it so far, they can’t all be winners.

CM, 10:02pm — Not surprised. She was forgettable.

DM, 10:02pm — Better to be memorably bad than forgettable and just okay.
