“Dancing with the Stars” surprised us at the end of “Semi-Finals” by announcing that all five celebrities were moving on to the finale for the first time ever. That means husband-and-wife pro dancers Pasha Pashkov and Daniella Karagach will be competing against each other until the very end. Will one of them prevail? And might they make history as the first couple to achieve a one-two finish?

Pashkov and Karagach previously competed as a team on the NBC competition series “World of Dance” in 2018 before they joined the cast of “DWTS” as professionals. To date, Pashkov has been a pro five times, while Karagach has competed four times, but Karagach has had more success on the dance floor so far. She finished third in season 29 with rapper Nelly, and then she won season 30 with basketball player Iman Shumpert. Pashkov’s previous personal best, meanwhile, was his seventh place finish with “The Office” actress Kate Flannery in season 28. This is Pashkov’s first time in the finals.

This year Pashkov is teamed with “Vanderpump Rules” star Ariana Madix, who has dealt with back pain in recent weeks, but has nevertheless racked up perfect 10s from the judges, including with a flawless foxtrot in the “Semi-Finals.” Judge Carrie Ann Inaba has said Madix has what it takes to win the whole competition. Indeed, she ranked second in our Mirror Ball Trophy odds going into the semis.

Karagach, meanwhile, is partnered with Grammy-winning singer Jason Mraz, with whom she’s had ups and downs. He forgot some of his choreography during his “Whitney Houston Night” samba and landed near the bottom of the judges’ leaderboard. But then they came back with perfect dances for two weeks in a row with an Argentine tango during “A Celebration of Taylor Swift” and a paso doble during the semis. He ranked third in our most recent odds.

They’ll both have to get past Mirror Ball front-runner Xochitl Gomez, whose partner is two-time champion Val Chmerkovskiy. Interestingly, Chmerkovskiy has competed multiple times against his own spouse, Jenna Johnson, who is also a Mirror Ball champ and multiple finalist, but they’ve never finished in the top three together. This year Johnson was eliminated in 12th place with model Tyson Beckford. So Karagach and Pashkov have a chance to mark their names in the “DWTS” history books. Can they do it?
