Week after week, another couple gets voted off Dancing with the Stars Season 32. But while more talented dancers are sent home, reality TV personality Harry Jowsey and his professional dance partner Rylee Arnold are still hanging on. Some viewers complain that Harry is being carried through on fan votes alone despite the judges’ somewhat dismal scores.

Consistently landing near the bottom of the judges’ leaderboard, Harry and Rylee have managed to squeak by the weekly elimination so far. But even Harry felt guilty when Lele Pons was voted off on Music Video Night on November 7, while he survived. He offered to step down in place of the Venezuelan YouTube personality, but sadly, that’s not the way the rules work.

Arguably one of the least talented dancers on the show, Harry doesn’t seem to even be enjoying himself. He’s not getting any better and he’s actually painful to watch. Why is he still there?

It’s not a dance competition

In a TikTok video posted the day after Lele’s elimination, Harry explained the surprising outcome. “What people don’t understand,” he said, “it’s not a dance competition. It’s a TV show. If it was a dance competition, I would have been gone Week 1, for sure.”

While the fans decide who stays and who goes, Harry can’t explain what happened the night Lele was eliminated. Though Harry has a respectable 4,000,000 Instagram followers, Lele has 54 million. Apparently, her fans aren’t watching Dancing with the Stars.

Also appearing in the TikTok clip, Lele revealed that Harry offered to trade places with her. “He texted me last night and said, ‘Lele is there any way I can leave and you can stay?’”

Harry’s fans speak out

But even some of Harry’s fans want him out. In a Reddit thread, one commenter wrote, “From a Harry fan, he absolutely needs to go. I’ve been watching this show for 10 years and went in rooting for Harry. But it’s week eight and people who can actually dance are being booted because of people who vote hotness > actual content.”

“He’s just there because he’s conventionally attractive,” another wrote. “There’s people literally leaving it all on the dance floor and then there’s him with the two left feet and absolutely ZERO chemistry with Rylee on the dance floor.”

My favorite response in that thread simply says, “He doesn’t f*cking move.” That’s almost word for word what my hubby says every week. That and “Why is he still there?”

I do feel bad for Rylee. She’s only 18 and this is her first year as a professional dancer. She’s getting a lot of heat, even though I think she’s doing the best she can with Harry. But at this point, Harry’s well beyond his expiration date. It’s time for him to go.

Dancing with the Stars Season 32 continues Tuesdays at 8/7c on ABC.
