'Dancing With the Stars' Fans Are Flipping Out After Hearing Tom Bergeron's Big News

Although Dancing With the Stars season 30 is premiering soon with an exciting new cast, fans are still missing former longtime host Tom Bergeron. Luckily though, Tom has reassured folks that he’ll be back on TV soon ... albeit, in a completely different way.

While many were enjoying Labor Day weekend, the 66-year-old former America’s Funniest Home Videos host spent that time preparing for his next big adventure. As he explained on social media, he is currently working on some kind of new sitcom project at NBC Universal Studios. “Successful wardrobe fitting for next week’s sitcom guest spot,” he cryptically captioned a recent Instagram of Universal Studios' Edith Head costume building. “Everything fit despite pandemic IPA diet 😏🍺👍🏼.”

Though Tom didn't reveal exactly what he's been cooking up, fans immediately rushed to the comments section with supportive messages and well wishes. “Pretty cool. Got excited there for a minute and then I noticed it was an NBC building 🙂 You KNOW we want you back @tombergeron!!” one person wrote. “Can’t wait to see you in something new — will never watch DWTS w/o you! 🙌,” another added. “Which sitcom? Can’t miss it,” a different fan said.

The picture came a day after Tom thanked fans for their endless support and reminded them that his departure from Dancing With the Stars is permanent. In July 2020, he broke the news that he and his cohost Erin Andrews were let go from the show after 15 years. Tom and Erin were replaced with Tyra Banks, who continues to be the solo host of the ABC dance competition series.

“While I deeply appreciate your supportive texts & tweets, it’s been almost two years since I last hosted the dance show. Life goes on. I traded in the A for an N. I’ll BCing you soon 😉,” he tweeted.

In early June, Tom gave fans an update about one of his upcoming projects in an Instagram video. “I’m taking a brief break from my summer break from social media just for a quick note. Day two of shooting the new project. We are having a ball. Apparently hosting is like riding a bicycle. In any case, more details later in the summer.”

Hmm ... still waiting on those details, Tom!
