‘Dancing with the Stars’ elimination odds: Who will be the first celebrity sent home?

The season 32 premiere of “Dancing with the Stars” is tonight, September 26, with 14 new celebrities entering the ballroom with their professional dance partners guiding them through new dance styles every week. And the eliminations start right away: one of those couples will be sent home at the end of “Premiere Night.” So who will it be? We haven’t seen these contestants dance yet, so it’s hard to know for sure, but fans of the show have been placing their bets here in our predictions center ever since the cast was announced.

As of this writing “The Brady Bunch” alum Barry Williams is the star predicted to exit the competition after his first dance, a foxtrot with pro partner Peta Murgatroyd. He gets leading odds of 12/5. The 68-year-old actor is the oldest celeb in the competition this season, and it’s often a challenge for older contestants to keep up with the athletic demands of weekly training and live performances. The oldest star ever to win the show was Donny Osmond, who was almost 52 when he prevailed in season nine back in 2009.

The next most likely to go home is another older contestant, 58-year-old “Veep” actor and comedian Matt Walsh, with 49/20 odds. He and pro partner Koko Iwasaki will dance a fast-paced cha cha tonight. But Walsh actually came close to self-eliminating before the season even started. The Writers Guild of America was picketing the show during their strike because “DWTS” employs a WGA writer, so Walsh, a WGA member, decided he would step away from the show until the resolution of the strike. Thankfully for Walsh, and for the show as a whole, the WGA made a tentative deal with the AMPTP two days before “DWTS” was scheduled to premiere. Will the off-screen drama affect his performance? Or might he actually get a few extra votes from viewers at home for standing in solidarity with his fellow workers?
