Dan Smyers is celebrating a special milestone!

The singer, who is one-half of the country music duo Dan + Shay, marked his seventh wedding anniversary with wife Abby Smyers on Monday, May 13, by giving her a sweet shout-out on social media.

In honor of the occasion, Abby posted a series of photos on Instagram from the couple's 2017 nuptials, along with the caption: "7 Years. 👰🏻‍♀️🤵🏻‍♂️ The way I know that we would have always found each other. I love you so deeply. Happy Anniversary, @dansmyers. ♥️."

Dan left her some love in the comments, writing, "Love you so much! And even more with every passing year. Can’t believe it’s already been 7. Happy anniversary to my favorite person in the world."

"The dogs and I are so lucky to have you ❤️," the musician added, referencing the animal-loving pair's pups, who make a cameo in one of the wedding photos.

Dan and Abby — who got engaged in November 2016 on Hawaii's Waikiki Beach — tied the knot as the sun set in their home city of Nashville, which they told PEOPLE at the time is their “favorite place in the world.”

“It’ll be awesome to have all of our friends and family together in Nashville — a lot of them have never been here,” Dan said ahead of the big day. “We built our love story in Nashville and it’ll be cool to get everybody there to see where it all began for us.”

The couple — who regularly volunteers and foster dogs through Proverbs 12:10 Animal Rescue in Tennessee — included their dogs in their wedding party. Two were dressed in tuxedos, while a third wore a dress and veil. “They are the most important bridesmaid and groomsmen,” Dan joked to PEOPLE.

In September 2023, Dan and bandmate Shay Mooney opened up about how their wives were "a lifeline" for them when they hit a rough patch in their professional partnership — and friendship — two years previously that saw them on the brink of breaking up.

“We've got great families. We are so lucky. There are so many people who would kill to be in our shoes, and that's something we don't want to take for granted,” Dan — who nearly decided to bow out of the music industry after dealing with extreme burnout — told PEOPLE. “I think Abby has given me such a great perspective and inspired me to enjoy the ride a little bit more.”

Mooney, 32, shared a similar sentiment about his wife, Hannah Mooney.

“She is an absolute angel, my wife, She was my lifeline through all of this,” Shay said. “It's not an easy thing to kind of sit back and watch the person that you love destroy themselves with what they eat and with drinking too much.”

Dan noted how he was able to lean on Abby as he grappled with his future in music.

“She continues to save my life every day, honestly. I can't say enough good things. She just has such a different outlook on life than I do," he told PEOPLE. "I feel like I'm a natural pessimist. I'll see a spot in the grass that's not looking good. She'll be like, 'But look at all the green grass.' She sees just the hope and positivity and happiness and optimism and everything."

He credited his wife for helping him navigate moments when he's feeling stressed and overwhelmed.

“If I start complaining or spiraling, she'll be like, ‘All right, let's pause for a sec. Take a deep breath. Let's discuss the situation,' " he explained. "She's helped me through dark times when I was sad. Who knows? I may have quit music or moved back to my hometown, but she'll just talk me off the ledge and calm me down.”
