A new Damien Chazelle film is in the works at Paramount, the studio confirmed during its CinemaCon panel.

Chazelle signed a multi-year first-look deal with Paramount in 2022 ahead of the opening of his last film, Babylon, and this new project will be the first to be in the works since then.

The exclusive dropped via Deadline, which revealed that the upcoming project will take place inside a prison, and Chazelle will produce alongside Olivia Hamilton through their Wild Chickens banner.

Fans feared Chazelle had been placed in the mythical "director's jail" following his epic $80 million Babylon, which made a loss at the box office, grossing just $63.5 million worldwide.

However, it seems Paramount will continue to bet on the director who became the youngest person in history to win the Best Director Oscar at the Academy Awards for his 2016 film La La Land.

Further details are under wraps, but - with the film expected to be here as soon as 2025 - it shouldn't be long before we have a better idea of what to expect from Chazelle's next flick.
