Damien Chazelle Directs Bradley Cooper in Dreamy Parisian Louis Vuitton Ad — Watch

Bradley Cooper is counting down a new love story for a Louis Vuitton short film, directed by Damien Chazelle.

Cooper leads the campaign promoting the brand’s Tambour watch in a dreamy romance culminating with Cooper meeting the woman of his dreams at the clock atop the Musée d’Orsay in Paris. The short film works in reverse, with Cooper finding the woman after receiving a paper airplane telling him the time and place to meet; the cute invitation is a reference to his childhood, as briefly shown in black-and-white.

Cooper constantly checks the time as he walks along the Seine to the museum, and then climbs the steps in the clocktower to meet the woman he’s been seeking. Upon reaching her, he slips the watch onto her wrist.

The official Louis Vuitton press release stated that the film is “honoring a milestone in the Maison’s watchmaking history” and captures how the “latest iteration of the Tambour reinterprets an emblematic Louis Vuitton timepiece.” Cooper is the House Ambassador for the brand, with the short film shot “in the heart of Paris,” per Louis Vuitton.

“Embodying the Maison’s signature codes alongside the advanced watchmaking expertise of La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton, the new LFT023 caliber drives the timepiece – showcasing a fusion of traditional and contemporary movement decorations,” the statement reads.

The new campaign marks a Louis Vuitton reunion for Chazelle and Cooper, who collaborated on the October 2022 short film “Journey Beyond Time” for the brand.

The ad comes out as Damien Chazelle is busy at the Venice Film Festival serving as jury president. The Oscar-winning director addressed the strikes in his opening remarks.

“Today is the 121st day that the writers in Hollywood have been on strike, the 48th day that the actors have been on strike,” Chazelle said while donning a shirt supporting the Writer’s Guild. “There’s a basic idea that each work of art has value unto itself, that it’s not just a piece of content — to use Hollywood’s favorite word right now — to be put into a pipeline. That idea is very basic, I think, to art and how art is made and how art can be made sustainable to the people who make it has been eroded quite a bit, in the past 10 years.”
