Dame Dash wasn’t a fan of Steve Stoute speaking about his fallout with JAY-Z during his interview on Club Shay Shay. The Roc-A-Fella co-founder offered a spicy response via Instagram.

He shared a clip of Stoute speaking with Shannon Sharpe about why Hov ultimately stepped away from Dash, claiming he saw “Dame’s ceiling.” In response, the entrepreneur wrote in the caption, “This is the reason I had to smack the sh*t out of @stevestoute a couple years ago… because he’s always speaking on other men’s business good thing I’ve evolved #staytuned @clubshayshay #culturevulture.”

Though he did not name a specific time or year, Dash spoke about smacking Stoute in a 2014 interview on The Combat Jack Show. The two were playing basketball in the Hamptons and Dame ended up breaking his foot. Dame claims that, upon telling Stoute that he owed him money for the injury, Stoute refused and he retorted by smacking him. Dash did say that he wasn’t proud of it, but these recent comments were piercing enough that he needed to remind Stoute of what happened in the past.

Steve Stoute joined Club Shay Shay on Wednesday (March 6) and was very open about why he thinks Dame Dash has pushed away several business partners. “Dame wouldn’t change,” he told Shannon Sharpe. “The way he spoke to people, the way he treated people. He was angry. He was angry because he had a strong perspective about his business philosophy […] People were becoming less beholden to him.”

He said JAY-Z ultimately reached a point where he needed to sever ties. “He wanted more,” Stoute said. “And everybody wanted more. Dame just had a very particular way of approaching it.”

He complimented Dame’s intelligence and business acumen but reiterated the fact his ego drove people away. “He’s far from stupid. Very very very smart. Very talented,” he said. “Ego through the roof. Through the roof! So, there was no working with him. No one wanted to work with him. As much talent as he has, nobody [wants] to work with him.” Watch the full interview below.
