Dallas Stars defenseman Roman Polak suffered a small fracture of his sternum after a scary incident that occurred on Thursday night, the team announced on Friday.

There is currently no timetable for his return and his health will be re-evaluated in one week.

The blueliner sustained the injury during the second period of the game as he went into the corner with Boston Bruins forward Chris Wagner.

Polak was stretchered off the ice after a long stoppage in play.

Stars’ head coach Jim Montgomery stated that Polak had full use of his extremities. The defenseman was also released from the hospital last night, according to Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports.
