Dale Earnhardt Jr. Feels 'Truly Blessed' After His Family Survives Plane Crash

Racing legend Dale Earnhardt Jr. is breaking silence after his family was involved in a plane crash last week.

Earnhardt Jr. tweeted on Monday, writing, "Amy and I want to thank everyone who has lifted us up with phone calls, messages and prayer since last Thursday. We are truly blessed that all on board escaped with no serious injuries, including our daughter, our two pilots, and our dog Gus."

He continued, "With respect to the investigation, we will not be speculating or discussing the cause of the accident."

Earnhardt Jr. then added, "I am thankful for the quick response of my pilots, local law enforcement, emergency personnel and hospital staff."

He concluded by saying, "Lastly, Amy and I continue to be very appreciative of the privacy extended to us to process everything. It has been important to do that together and on our own time."

The Earnhardt family was involved in a plane crash last Thursday afternoon after their plane ran off the runway and caught fire.

The crash occurred at Elizabethton Municipal Airport in Tennessee. No one was killed in the crash and there were no serious injuries. Dale was the only person transported to Johnson City Medical Center with cuts and abrasions.

According to the FAA, the plane rolled off the end of a runway after landing.
