Dakota Johnson shoots down Chris Martin pregnancy rumors with tight skirt and jokes: 'A lot of people congratulated me'

Gender reveal parties often end in disaster — inflicting bodily harm and the odd devastating wildfire. For Dakota Johnson, it merely resulted in a slew of headlines and some awkward reactions.

TMZ reported last week that the Bad Times at the El Royale actress was expecting a child with her boyfriend, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. Their evidence: Footage of a star-studded party thrown at Martin’s home featuring two balloon arches — one pink, and one blue, which was later released into the sky.

By the time Johnson’s rep issued a statement denying any pregnancy, the internet had already gleefully constructed family trees involving her parents — actors Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson, plus grandma Tippi Hedren — and his ex-wife, Gwyneth Paltrow.

As it happens, Baby Boy Johnson-Martin isn’t in the works just yet. Johnson set the record straight during an appearance on Thursday’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, wearing a form-fitting black blouse and white skirt to hammer the point home.

“That is a mighty tight outfit for someone who’s pregnant,” joked DeGeneres, who offered her the star some tissue to cover up her exposed thighs.

“Well, the only thing I’m pregnant with is a lot of really good ideas, but not any babies,” Johnson, 29, clarified, adding that her so-called gender reveal party was in fact just a birthday celebration.

“It was my birthday and there were balloons that happened to be pink and blue, and so then I was pregnant?” she said.

“I didn’t know that the balloons were going to be released, they were just in an arch. But I guess that accidentally happened [and] one of the ends got let go. But a lot of people congratulated me.”

There you have it. Apple and Moses Martin will not be getting a baby sibling in the near future, and frankly, we should have known. After all, would chain-smoking guest Sean Penn ever be caught dead at a gender reveal party?
