Dakota Johnson and Riley Keough will dive into the life of author Bexy Cameron in a new limited series Cult Following, based on the author's upcoming memoir of the same name.

Johnson will portray Cameron as she recounts her experiences growing up as a member of the Children of God and her journey after her emancipation from the cult in the Platform One Media project. Keough will star as Cameron's close friend who departs with her on a road trip to document and investigate cults all over America. It will also share insight into how Cameron processes the trauma she experienced as a child along the way.

Both Johnson and her childhood best friend Keough will also serve as executive producers on the project; the former alongside Ro Donnelly’s production company TeaTime Pictures, and the latter with Gina Gammell’s production company Felix Culpa.

“It’s a dream come true, to be working with Dakota, Riley, Ro, Gina, and Platform One,” Cameron said in a statement. “It’s overwhelming to think that such a stellar group of phenomenal women in the industry will be bringing my story to life.”

Cameron's novel is set to be released on July 8, 2021.
