New music from JT?

On Friday, Saturday Night Live announced that Justin Timberlake will serve as the musical guest with Dakota Johnson as host of next week’s episode on Jan. 27.

The appearance comes as fans have speculated that new music is on the way from Timberlake after he deleted everything from his Instagram earlier this month to share cryptic posts about possible new music. He also has a one-man show scheduled for Friday night in Memphis ahead of SNL.

The day before the SNL announcement, he posted photos of what seems to be a music video shoot with the caption “EITIW.” Fans believe it’s an acronym for a new single.

The appearance on Saturday Night Live will mark the singer’s sixth appearance on the show and his first since March 2013, when he joined the five-timers club. His first time on the show was in 2003. He’s had several iconic moments on the show, including the “Dick in a Box” sketch from 2008.

Aside from a collaboration with Jung Kook and the reunion of *NSYNC for Trolls: Band Together, Timberlake’s last full album, Man of the Woods, arrived in 2018. The LP featured singles “Filthy” and “Say Something” with Chris Stapleton.

As for Johnson, the actress is set to star in Madame Web, which premieres in mid-February. (Rolling Stone named it one of the most-anticipated films of 2024.)

Tomorrow, Jacob Elordi will take on SNL hosting duties, while Reneé Rapp, fresh off Mean Girls, will be the musical guest. The show released teasers for the episode on Thursday as the two guests joked about Elordi being “so babygirl” and Rapp being “mother.”
