Sisters Dakota and Elle Fanning stepped out together for a good cause.

The actresses teamed up on Saturday as they attended an event at the University of California supporting childhood cancer foundation Alex’s Lemonade Stand. Dakota, 29, wore a long white dress with a white button-down top as an extra layer while Elle, 25, paired a white lace blouse with dark denim. Both the sisters wore sun hats as they attended the charity event.

The famous sisters are two peas in a pod in their personal lives — Dakota told Shape in 2019 that she and Elle are “really close” and have a “special bond” — but when it comes to public appearances, they don’t often pose in front of a camera together.

In March, they attended The Hollywood Reporter and Jimmy Choo’s Power Stylists dinner and it marked their first public appearance together since 2019.

Dakota and Elle attended alongside their longtime stylist, Samantha McMillen, who Dakota described as “really part of our family,” while Elle gushed of their stylist’s award, “No one deserves this more than Samantha.”

In May 2020, Elle told Entertainment Tonight of her sister, “She is my closest person.”

“Your sister knows you more than anyone,” she said. “I mean, she can sniff anything out of you. She can push your buttons more than anybody. That dynamic is so special and unique. They know your family more than anybody.”

On Dakota’s birthday in February, the Maleficent actress praised her “beautiful sister” as she shared an adorable throwback photo of the two.

“We had a moment last year, sitting on the couch and we looked at each other and you said, ‘thank god I have a sister.’ I wouldn’t be able to do life without you,” Elle wrote in the post’s caption.

As for her sister, the Twilight actress described Elle as “my confidante” and “my truth-teller” in a touching tribute on Instagram for her sister’s 25th birthday in April.

"My person in all lifetimes,” Dakota’s caption continued. “Being your sister is a dream. happy birthday angel, i love you the most.”

The sisters also recently celebrated a new career milestone together as they launched a joint production company, Lewellen Pictures, in 2021. It had been one of their longtime dreams after close to two decades in the business.

"We are thrilled to be launching this company together and to be teaming up with MRC [Television] who have been excellent partners on The Great,” they said in a joint statement. “Our goal is to tell stories, through comedy and drama, which are authentic to the human experience, and not just from our own perspective.”

Alongside the launch of their company, the sisters might soon make their joint acting debut in The Nightingale, which they were set to begin filming just before the pandemic hit.

Elle told Porter that acting with her sister would be “a very rare and special thing," adding, "We can't have the first time over again, so we want it to be the right thing."

Though there haven’t been many updates on the project, Elle said in May on the Happy Sad Confused podcast that the film might be “coming back around” as she shared that she and Dakota “both would want that to be the one.”

The sisters have technically appeared in the same film before as Elle played the younger version of Dakota’s character in 2001’s I Am Sam — which launched both their careers.
