'Daily Show,' HBO's John Oliver bringing stand-up act to Mershon Auditorium on Oct. 12

John Oliver, known from his hosting stint on HBO's "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver," and a former regular on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart," will return to his origins as a stand-up comedian when he comes to the Wexner Center's Mershon Auditorium on Oct. 12.

Tickets go on pre-sale at 10 a.m. Thursday and to the general public at 10 a.m. Friday at ticketmaster.com.

Oliver, who's also a political commentator, actor, writer, and producer, began his stand-up career in the U.K., and became more widely known in the U.S. as the senior British correspondent on "The Daily Show" from 2006 to 2013. He also guest-hosted for two months during Stewart’s absence in 2013 and won three Primetime Emmy Awards for his writing for the show.

Oliver's other credits include a stand-up special, "John Oliver: Terrifying Times," and four seasons of his own stand-up series for Comedy Central. In addition, he was the voice of Zazu Disney's "The Lion King," and has done voice work for such animated films and TV shows as "The Smurfs," "The Smurfs 2," "Bob’s Burgers," "The Simpsons," and "Rick & Morty."
