Park Bo-young will star in the upcoming Netflix K-drama Daily Dose of Sunshine, which will premiere on November 3, 2023. The series is based on a webtoon by Lee Jae-gyu and documents the real-life experiences of a psychiatric nurse. It follows the story of nurse Da-eun, who gets employed in the psychiatric ward and meets a variety of patients.

In the official trailer released by Netflix on October 19, 2023, nurse Da-eun, played by Park Bo-young, is shifted to the psychiatric ward from the Department of Internal Medicine. She not only meets patients with varied mental health struggles but also experiences personal growth and empathy.

Park Bo Young becomes overwhelmed in Netflix’s Daily Dose of Sunshine trailer

In the trailer of Daily Dose of Sunshine, nurse Da-eun braces herself to work in the psychiatric ward. Throughout her journey, she meets various patients, including drug addicts, individuals with depression, schizophrenia, and even someone who sees dragons on the rooftop. The mood shifts to show people struggling to come to terms with their mental health.

One man asks Da-eun, “Does abundance prevent one from developing a mental disorder?.” These subtle messages implying stereotypes in mental health seem to be a common occurrence in the preview clip. Meanwhile, Da-eun is not having an easy time with any of the patients as she is seen overwhelmed with their medical history and symptoms.

Da-eun wonders what she can do to make patients feel better. In one scene, she wonders, “If I had not been in charge of his care to begin with, would things be any different?,” indicating self-doubt in her abilities as a medical professional. However, she is led with a brilliant team of fellow doctors who help her every step of the way.

The head nurse, Hyo Shin (Lee Jung-eun), makes Da-eun understand that mental health is a sickness and not a sin. She explains that it can happen to a person at any moment in their lives. Moreover, Da-eun is supported by proctologist Dong Go-yun (Yeon Woo-jin) and longtime best friend Song Yu-chan (Jang Dong-yoon).

The preview then showcases her growth, both personally and professionally. She says, “We all cross between day and night throughout our whole lives.”

Catch the premiere of Daily Dose of Sunshine on November 3, 2023, on Netflix.
