D.L. Hughley Responds To Mo’Nique’s ‘Club Shay Shay’ Interview
D.L. Hughley has issued a response to Mo’Nique after her viral interview with Shannon Sharpe on the Club Shay Shay podcast. In the conversation, the Almost Christmas actress opened up about her experiences with the King Of Comedy as a guest on his radio show after she was “offended” by his co-host.
“The reason LIES and FALSE NARRATIVES continue to go on and circulate is because they go unchecked. What you’re not gonna do is call me out my name and not get checked… MONIQUE IS A LIAR!” wrote the comedian on Instagram.
In the clip, he goes beyond the lengthy caption, elaborating on his claims that the Precious star was withholding the truth.
“Mo’Nique said I was very dismissive. Mo’Nique’s a liar. Well, Mo’Nique did call me and I heard her complaints. I listened to her and I pulled the segment. So if I had been as dismissive as she alleges I was, that segment would have aired and it didn’t because I respected her wishes. She’s a liar,” explained the 60-year-old.
Elsewhere in the latest viral episode of Club Shay Shay, Mo’Nique name-dropped Oprah, Taraji P. Henson, Tiffany Haddish, Kevin Hart, Tyler Perry, and more.
“If I were a white woman, my name would be Melissa McCarthy,” explained the 56-year-old on the impact of race on her career trajectory. “Same track record, five-season sitcom and syndication. Same track record, but the opportunities are not the same.”
