D.C. Police 'Thank the Community' for Saving 7 Bulldog Puppies Stolen with Dog Owner's Car

One puppy stolen with the others is still missing and is described as "a 5-week-old American Bull Dog who is dark in color with white markings"

Seven of the eight American bulldog puppies who were in their owner's car when it was stolen safely reunited with their pet parent on Sunday.

In a press release, the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington D.C. explained that the puppies' pet parent had left their vehicle running and unlocked on Saturday when it was stolen with the newborn dogs inside.

"Seven of the eight puppies were turned in to a district station by a community member," per the release, which added that the stolen car had also been recovered. "The puppies have been safely returned to their owner. We are still seeking the public's help with locating the last puppy."

The police described the outstanding furry friend as "a 5-week-old American Bull Dog who is dark in color with white markings."

According to the local ABC7 News, the owner headed inside her house around 1 p.m. on Saturday, thinking she had locked her car, only to return moments later to find it gone.

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is offering a $1000 reward "to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a crime committed in the District of Columbia," per the agency's release, which added that tips can be called into (202) 727-9099.

"MPD would like to thank the community for their help with locating these puppies," the police department added.

MPD shared a photo of the seven recovered puppies with officers on X (formerly known as Twitter).

In the photo, the seven small dogs are relaxing in a large, open plastic container surrounded by smiling officers.
