Cynthia Bailey Remembers Late Dad Eligah After His Death: ‘Grateful for the Beautiful Memories’

The RHOA star shared several heartfelt tributes to her father on Instagram after announcing his death

Cynthia Bailey is mourning the loss of her father.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta star, 56, first shared the news of the death of her father, Eligah, on Instagram on Dec. 11, as she shared a throwback photo from her childhood and captioned the post, “rest in peace daddy. 🕊️”

On Saturday, she reflected on the loss as she shared a shot of the framed photo of her younger self that her father kept in his house. In the heartfelt post, she shared a message to her father as she said, “All I wanted to ever do was be a good daughter & make you proud of me.”

“I was so touched with all that we have been through (the up’s & downs) together that the entire time you always kept this photo of me close to you. the whole time. i now have it & will keep it close to me as well,” she continued.

“I promise as you look down on me from heaven that i will continue to try to make you proud.”

Bailey added that she is “grateful for the beautiful memories” as “those are the only ones that really matter in the end.”

Her dad died at the age of 78 on Dec. 10, according to another post from the Bravo star that commemorated his life and spoke of his funeral. She thanked her followers, loved ones and fans for the “warm wishes, prayers, texts, dm’s, phone calls and heartfelt condolences” in the caption as she shared footage from the funeral service and a portrait of her late father.

In the comments on her posts, several famous faces shared their condolences and messages of love to the Bravo star.

Teresa Giudice wrote, “So sorry for your loss ❤️🙏,” while NeNe Leakes commented “🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾.”

Dorinda Medley, “So sorry my sweet Cynthia I pray for his safe journey to heaven ❤️”

Octavia Spencer also commented, writing, “🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽,” and Janelle Monae wrote on the same post, “May God bless you and your family I’m so sorry 🙏🏾.”

Bailey’s father’s death comes after she’s also been candid about her mother’s health journey.

Last year, she revealed that her mother had been diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent surgery, sharing on Instagram that it had been caught early and was only stage one.

“With surgery to remove the cancer & radiation she is going to be fine,” Bailey shared.

A few months later, in November, she had an exciting update for her fans as she shared that her mom was officially cancer-free.

"For everyone that has been asking for an update on my mom @barbarafmorris cancer journey, I am so excited to let you all know that today was her last day of radiation, and she is by the grace of God cancer free!!!" Bailey wrote on Instagram and sharing a selfie with her mom.

"Thanksgiving came early. Thank you all for your love, prayers & well wishes! Glory be to God!💕💗 #cancerfree #healthiswealth.”
