I am like everyone: I wear hair ties on my wrist because when I need a ponytail, I need it right now. There’s no time to rummage through my overloaded bag in search of a teeny-tiny elastic that’s doing its best to go unseen. And what about those times when I’m not carrying a bag? My wrist is always there for me!

But I’m the first to admit that wearing a hair tie like a watch is not a particularly sophisticated look for a grownup woman (which I am). Nor is the telltale indent where said band once sat. So when I heard about a chic little bracelet whose mission is to camouflage a hair tie, I added it to my cart immediately. And now, you can snag the genius invention on sale.

The Stainless Steel Hair Tie Bracelet features a groove that perfectly fits one thick hair tie or several thin ones. To outsiders, it looks like a fashionable accessory. To you, it’s a lifesaver. When it’s time to get that hair up—helping the host in the kitchen, jumping in to the family touch-football game, getting down on the floor with your baby niece—you simply take the elastic off and leave the bangle in place.

I have to admit: I was skeptical at first. I thought the bracelet might be chintzy. But when it arrived, beautifully packaged I might add, I was thrilled with the quality. It’s substantial and well-made (and it came with a thick black hair tie, which I appreciated). At $45, ($29 for Cyber Monday), this piece of smart jewelry seemed like a steal. I’m a fan of pink gold, so I ordered the rose-gold finish; the stainless-steel bracelet is also available in silver or gold tone.

The other night, when I got dressed for my friend’s birthday dinner, I put on the bracelet as a finishing touch. It felt luxurious with my party clothes—it has a nice weight to it. The elastic never popped out during the evening and when I got hot from dancing (70s theme—so great music!), I was fully propped to put up my hair in a messy bun without leaving the dance floor. I even got compliments on the bracelet from two friends—when I showed them its secret power, they were delighted. One of them ordered it then and there for her daughter.

I’ve since grown dependent on my hair tie bracelet. You can change the color with a change of hair tie, so for work I sometimes coordinate. This piece is subtle and versatile enough to go casual or dressy. I used to agonize over accessorizing. Now I don’t think about it. This sneaky bracelet does double-duty and goes with everything. I slip it on pretty much every morning.

And at least once a day—running errands, with my daughters at the playground, cleaning up at home—I reach for my bracelet to make a quick up-do (for me or for one of my kids). It’s so neat and so smart, it makes me feel a little like Superwoman...or at least Supermom.
