The CW Renews ‘iZombie,’ Orders ‘Charmed’ and ‘Roswell’ Reboots to Series
The CW has renewed “iZombie” for a fifth season and picked up five new series, the network said Friday.
Among them are the “Charmed” and the “Roswell, New Mexico” reboot starring Jeanine Mason. “In the Dark,” “All American” and “Legacies” were also ordered to series.
The new take on “Charmed” comes from “Jane the Virgin” alum Jennie Snyder Urman and was originally developed last cycle and passed on by the network, is described as a “fierce, funny, feminist reboot of the original series” and will center on three sisters in a college town who discover they are witches.

“Roswell, New Mexico” is based on the book series “Roswell High” by Melinda Metz, and is executive produced by “Vampire Diaries” and “Originals” EP Julie Plec, who scored another pickup in her vampire spinoff “Legacies.”

“iZombie”
Olivia “Liv” Moore (Rose McIver) was a rosy-cheeked, disciplined, over-achieving medical resident who had her life path completely mapped out…until the night she attended a party that unexpectedly turned into a zombie feeding frenzy. As one of the newly undead, Liv is doing her best to blend in and look as human as possible. Based upon characters created by Chris Roberson and Michael Allred, and published by DC Entertainment’s Vertigo, iZOMBIE is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Spondoolie Productions and Warner Bros. “Charmed”
After the tragic death of their mother, three sisters in a college town are stunned to discover they are witches. Soon this powerful threesome must stand together to fight the everyday and supernatural battles that all modern witches must face: from vanquishing powerful demons to toppling the patriarchy.
Jessica O’Toole and Amy Rardin write and executive produce with Jennie Urman, Ben Silverman, Carter Covington and director Brad Silberling. The project comes from CBS Television Studios in association with Propagate Content.

“In the Dark”
A flawed and irreverent blind woman is the only “witness” to the murder of her drug-dealing friend. After the police dismiss her story, she sets out with her dog, Pretzel, to find the killer while also managing her colorful dating life and the job she hates at the guide dog school owned by her overprotective parents.
Corinne Kingsbury will write and executive produce with Ben Stiller, Jackie Cohn, Nicky Weinstock, and Emily Fox of Red Hour Films. Michael Showalter will also executive produce and direct. The project comes from CBS Television Studios and Warner Bros. Television in association with Red Hour Films.
“Roswell, New Mexico”
After reluctantly returning to her tourist-trap hometown of Roswell, New Mexico, the daughter of undocumented immigrants discovers a shocking truth about her teenage crush who is now a police officer: he’s an alien who has kept his unearthly abilities hidden his entire life. She protects his secret as the two reconnect and begin to investigate his origins, but when a violent attack and long-standing government cover-up point to a greater alien presence on Earth, the politics of fear and hatred threaten to expose him and destroy their deepening romance.
Carina Adly MacKenzie will write and executive produce with Brett Matthews, Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank of Amblin Television, Lawrence Bender, KEvin Kelly Brown and director Julie Plec. The project is based on the “Roswell High” book series by Melinda Metz and comes from Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios in association with Amblin Television and Bender Brown Productions.

“All American”
When a rising high school football player from South L.A. is recruited to play for Beverly Hills High, the wins, losses and struggles of two families from vastly different worlds — Crenshaw and Beverly Hills — begin to collide. Inspired by the life of pro football player Spencer Paysinger.
April Blair writes and executive produces with Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter, and director Rob Hardy. Robbie Rogers produces, and Dane Morck serves as consultant. The project comes from Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios in association with Berlanti Productions.
“Legacies”
Continuing the tradition of “The Vampire Diaries” and “The Originals,” the story of the next generation of supernatural beings at The Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted. Klaus Mikaelson’s daughter, 17-year-old Hope Mikaelson; Alaric Saltzman’s twins, Lizzie and Josie Saltzman; and other young adults come of age in the most unconventional way possible, nurtured to be their best selves…in spite of their worst impulses. Will these young witches, vampires and werewolves become the heroes they want to be — or the villains they were born to be?
Julie Plec and Brett Matthews write and executive produce with Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo. The project comes from Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios, in association with My So-Called Television and Alloy Entertainment.
