The CW Picks Up ‘Terry Crews Saves Christmas’ Holiday Specials From Electus

The CW has teamed with Electus for Terry Crews Saves Christmas, a week-long, holiday-themed special, which will air in the days leading to Christmas. It will premiere on Tuesday, December 20 and run hourlong episodes Dec. 20, 21 and 22, leading to a two-hour finale on Dec. 23. Electus, an operating business of IAC, is currently selling the CW series as well as the formal at the MIPCOM market in Cannes.

In each episode, Brooklyn Nine-Nine co-star Crews will visit a hopeless holiday enthusiast and, joined by a team featuring no-nonsense food, beverage and design experts, will put them through a crash-course in how to do Christmas right.

Terry Crews Saves Christmas is produced by Tim Warren (Bar Rescue), and Christopher Grant, Drew Buckley, Justin Dudek, and Max Levenson of Electus.

“We always try to look at compelling ways to universally bring audience together, and nothing accomplishes that the same way holidays do,” said Electus CEO Grant. “This is a refreshing, invigorating take on the makeover space, and Terry Crews embodies what we were looking for with his ability to infuse a fantastic celebratory energy into everything he does each and every day.”

Grant indicated that Terry Crews Saves Christmas is envisioned as possibly launching a franchise of makeover shows themed around different holidays, like Saving Halloween, Thanksgiving or New Year’s.

“Christmas is the best time of the year, and done right, the day is filled with love, joy, and warmth, said Crews. “But sometimes, the pressure of gathering loved ones and hosting an event can be a stress-filled recipe for disaster. And that’s where I come in – I’m going to work my Christmas magic to help give these families the best holiday ever.”

Levenson noted that the CW is a good fit for the series because its audiences would relate to the people in it. “Terry Crews Saves Christmas will feature busy young families, a lot of whom work 40-50 hours a week and feel pressure to carry on the family tradition and put on a great holiday,” he said.

This marks the second series order for Electus over the past week, following ABC’s pickup of The Toy Box, a new competition reality series with Mattel Creations, hosted by Modern Family‘s Eric Stonestreet.

Crews is repped by WME and 3 Arts.
