Cuyahoga Falls' Mexibachi Grill puts Japanese, Mexican cuisine fans in state of yum fusion
It's the never-ending question: What should we have for dinner tonight?
There are many choices out there, but if you are hungry for either Japanese or Mexican, one new restaurant in Cuyahoga Falls offers both.
Mexibachi Grill on State Road has a menu full of Mexican and Japanese fare, and some dishes have a little of both. For example, the Tacos Mexibachi includes three steak or chicken tacos cooked with Hibachi sauce, lettuce and pico de gallo — served with either rice or noodles.
Or Mexi-Sushi, which includes chicken, shrimp, steak or veggies, along with cucumber, cheese and avocado. This is topped with sushi sauce and yum-yum sauce.
Daniel Rodriguez, the co-owner of Mexibachi, said the yum-yum sauce, a mild, creamy and slightly sweet topping, is a house creation.
One dish, the Burrito Mexibachi, includes a burrito the length of the plate, plus fried rice (noodles are also an option). The burrito has generous portions of chicken, steak and shrimp, prepared Hibachi style, as well as broccoli and carrots. Mildly spicy mushrooms are served on the side.
Tuesday's regular special includes $1 tacos and $3 margaritas.
Rodriguez, who also co-owns Hibachi in Massillon, said Mexibachi opened about five months ago. So far, a main part of the business includes to-go orders, which can be placed on the company's website then picked up.
One highlight for those who enjoy guacamole is a wooden guacamole cart that can be wheeled to the tables.
"We have jalapeños, onions, that can be added," Rodriguez said.
The restaurant also includes a bar, a children's menu, desserts and lunch specials.
Mexibachi Grill is at 4065 State Road in Cuyahoga Falls. For details, call 330-922-8112 or visit https://www.mexibachigrill.com online.
