Curtain rises at new Greg Rowles Legacy Theatre in North Myrtle Beach

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — The new Greg Rowles Legacy Theatre is open and lighting up North Myrtle Beach with its live show “Music & Memories.”

Performers said the show is ever-changing and all about harmonizing with the audience.

“One of my favorite comments we’ve gotten so far about the show is it feels like we are all getting together in someone’s living room and playing music together, you included,” musician Mark Perry said.

That’s exactly what the entertainers strive for; they want you to come to their new house and play some music together.

“It’s a show unlike anything you have ever seen before, and I swear you will leave with a smile,” singer Jason Cox said. “You might shed a tear, and you are going to laugh that’s for sure.”

The theatre officially opened on April 1, and the performers said they’re overjoyed with the incredible response from the community. The new venue is all about intimacy and feeling connected with the audience.

“We haven’t done the same show twice because we have sections of the show where we let the audience choose a song,” Cox said.

The variety show also features all types of music genres that are personal to each entertainer and allow them to share their story. Plus, everyone on stage has input on how the show will go.

“There’s been a reinvigoration of that love of music,” Perry said. “It’s one aspect of this theatre which is something I’ve never experienced in the professional world, is being part of the creation process.”

It was a dream of longtime local musician and the theatre’s namesake Greg Rowles to open his own theatre. Rowles previously performed at the Alabama Theatre for more than 20 years.

“This has been a dream for his (Rowles) and a dream for a lot of us on stage and even those backstage,” Perry said. “It’s been a fantastic experience.”

The theatre, which features live shows six nights a week, is located at 701 Main Street in North Myrtle Beach. Ticket and other information can be found here.
