Crystal Kung Minkoff has shared an amusing update on her “ugly leather pants.”

Fans got their first look at the trousers back in 2021, during Crystal’s first season on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. The mother of two had worn the polarizing pants to a backyard get-together, where she got into a heated exchange with her castmate Sutton Stracke. Toward the end of the argument, Crystal flatly accused her then-foe of being jealous of her, to which Sutton famously replied: “Jealous of what? Your ugly leather pants?”

The trousers, which were sold by Andrea Lieberman’s brand A.L.C., have since become one of the most iconic objects in the Bravo-verse, so much so that Andy Cohen reportedly sought to add them to the Watch What Happens Live Clubhouse collection. But unfortunately for Andy, Crystal’s husband is quite protective of the pants and treats them like a prized possession.

Crystal spoke about pants during the December 7 episode of The Viall Files podcast, when co-host Natalie Joy requested an update.

Crystal Kung Minkoff to Andy Cohen: “Leave Me Alone, They’re My Pants”

“So have you worn the ugly leather pants again?” Joy asked. “Or are they...”

“No. They are so special that my husband will not let me wear them,” Crystal said about her hubby, Rob Minkoff. “He checks in with me every few months, [asking], ‘Do you know where they are?’… You know it’s like when people put their wedding dresses…"

“You’re gonna frame it?” Natalie interjected.

“Yeah, he wants to do that with these pants,” Crystal continued. “He thinks they’re so iconic in a way that’s unnatural. He loves these pants so much. So, no, I haven’t worn them, but they are very safe. Almost like jewelry, they’re just hidden somewhere in a vault.”

What did the RHOBH ladies think of the "ugly leather pants"?

Crystal and her castmates shared more thoughts on the “ugly leather pants” during a 2021 episode of The RHOBH After Show. Sutton ultimately apologized for the comment and claimed the insult “just flew” out of her mouth, while Garcelle Beauvais said she was “Team Sutton” in the debate because she didn’t think the pants were a good look.

“They weren’t the most flattering pants I’ve ever seen,” she said with a laugh. “We don’t always get it right. Sometimes you wear something that you love and you see it on TV… It wasn’t my favorite pair of leather pants.”

Kyle Richards and Dorit Kemsley said they approved of the look, with the former admitting she owned a similar pair. Kathy Hilton, who described the pants as “darling," went to Sutton's defense.

“When Sutton did that, I don’t think she really meant that,” Kathy said about the insult. “That was the only thing she could muster up to say.”
