Crystal Hefner Reveals Cover for Memoir “Only Say Good Things”: ‘I’m Ready to Tell My Story’ (Exclusive)

The former Playmate and widow of Playboy founder Hugh Hefner will release her "vulnerable" memoir on Jan. 23

Crystal Hefner is baring it all like never before with her upcoming memoir.

The former Playmate and widow of Playboy founder Hugh Hefner will release Only Say Good Things: Surviving Playboy and Finding Myself on Jan. 23 — and PEOPLE can exclusively reveal the book cover.

“I am so thrilled to share the cover of my book, Only Say Good Things," Crystal, 37, tells PEOPLE. "I’m ready to tell my story — the whole story — including the decade I spent at the Playboy Mansion in the orbit of one of the most powerful, controversial, mythical men in the public imagination."

"Only Say Good Things is the honest story of my life, which is also the experience of so many girls and women who grow up believing that their worth comes from what they look like, and that their value can be given to them by other people, and also taken away," she adds. "It’s the book I wished I had read when I was a young woman.”

The writer, entrepreneur and multimedia personality — who has previously been outspoken about her Lyme disease diagnosis and her experiences with cosmetic surgery — is now offering a “raw and unflinching” look at her life, according to a description of the book.

The book will cover the "objectification and misogyny of the Playboy mansion, her stolen young adulthood and her journey to finding internal validation" as well as "providing a rare look into the final days of one of the most influential men of the 20th century."

When she was just 21 years old, Crystal's "life changed forever when she attended a party at the notorious Playboy mansion," according to the book's description.

After being picked to be one of Hefner's "girlfriends," she began "traveling the world and attending glamorous Hollywood parties" — but was also "forced to compete with other women for her spot in the highly hierarchical system," per the description.

Despite their then-60-year age difference, the pair first got engaged in 2010, though the wedding got called off four days before they planned to say "I do" at the Playboy Mansion. They later reconciled and got married in 2012.

While Crystal struggled with her self-worth before their wedding, according to the book's description, after her marriage "she grew increasingly restless to understand who she truly was away from Playboy’s toxic culture."

In the memoir, Crystal promises "offers a vulnerable and clear-eyed look at how her experience with Hefner catalyzed a transformative journey from valuing external validation over all else to finally recognizing her worth."
